Lisa-Seth-Fiddlers

How did you meet?
One of many summer nights out in Belmar. We both had rented houses for the summer with our groups of friends.

How did you get engaged?
Seth surprised me in our apartment over my birthday weekend. He then rented out a bar in NYC for us to celebrate with all of our friends after I said “yes.” It was the best night ever!

Details of the day!
Because we were getting married in October, I knew I wanted warm, rich burgundy and red colors with pops of gold and marble throughout. We also brought in apple-cider donuts as our favors as a fall treat, though I’m not sure anyone had the chance to eat them since the dance floor was packed the whole night!

Why did you choose your venue?
After looking at a few other venues in the area near my hometown, Fiddler’s Elbow was an easy choice! The stone exterior and beautiful grounds, along with the huge (covered!) back patio for cocktail hour made our decision an easy choice. The coordinator, Meg Leese, and her team were warm and inviting, and made our day absolutely perfect from start to finish and throughout the whole planning process!

What was on your menu?
After an amazing cocktail hour (including a martini station), our menu included a delicious fall salad, crab-cake appetizer and halibut or filet mignon entrée. Our cake was a light vanilla base with strawberries and cream filling, with a marble fondant design.

All about your gown!
My Rivini gown (“Roberts” style) was a flared sheath with a deep-V bodice accented with bias charmeuse trim. The silky fabric was so comfortable, and the simple design felt classic but with a modern twist. I didn’t want to take it off at the end of the night!

What was your favorite moment?
So hard to pick just one…but I would say the bus ride to our reception after our ceremony with all of our closest friends. We were on such a high after leaving the church and were so excited for the rest of the night.

One detail you couldn’t live without?
So hard to choose, but would have to say the antique silver champagne goblets that my grandparents and parents both used at their own weddings.

Did anything go wrong?
A few minor things, but you’re so happy on the day of that it doesn’t matter. (For example, my dad was almost late to our first look because he was celebrating with the guys at the venue.)

First dance song?
“Mirrors,” by Justin Timberlake.

Any advice for future brides?
Enjoy the anticipation and planning process as much as you can! It’s such a special time, and you’re so sad when it’s over!
