Real Weddings

Leighann and Max at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club

Details of the Day: My bridal party and I got ready at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club where the reception would be held. We spent the morning eating snacks and sandwiches and drinking some mimosas. After we were all ready, we took a Limo to the Wilson Memorial Church in Watchung, NJ for the Ceremony. My husband and I chose this church to get married in because it was were my parents were married as well as my aunt and uncle, and it was where my Grandfather’s memorial service was held after he passed. The church had a lot of family history and we wanted to get married somewhere that had meaning. After the ceremony, it was a quick limo ride back to Fiddler’s Elbow for the reception. My husband and I chose Fiddler’s Elbow for many reasons. First, it was absolutely beautiful with the country style stone building to the gorgeous view overlooking the golf course. We knew our wedding guest would be in awe. Second, we had been to Fiddler’s several times for dinner and for golfing, so we knew the food would be amazing. Finally, once we met the banquet/event manager, we knew that they would have everything under control. Upon arriving at Fiddler’s we took pictures prior to the start of the cocktail hour, and then had our own mini cocktail hours upstairs prior to heading down to join the party. For our wedding favors, we made a donation to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals also known as the ASPCA for short. Donation cards were given to us from the ASPCA, so we made gift bags with these donation cards and a lollipop in the shape of different dog breeds. [sponsor] The Menu:  We started with Potato Leek Soup. Followed by an Artisanal Green Salad. Main Course was a choice between the Chicken Mais, the chateaubriand steak or Gnocci as the vegetarian option. Cake was a vanilla cake with chocolate mouse filling with fresh strawberries. After party Brick Oven Pizza’s were provided as guests were leaving Favorite Moment: Dancing to the last song of the night was actually my favorite moment. Although it did signify the end of an amazing night, it was so fun because everyone was out on the dance floor belting to Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing”. Max and I were in the center of a huge circle of friends and family all singing and dancing. It was just such a great way to end such a wonderful day. Couldn’t Live Without: Tide to Go pen Something That Went Wrong:  I actually had an allergic reaction to my make up. Even though I did a trial with the same make up and had no reaction. I ended up having to take my eye shadow off after the ceremony and redo all of my eye shadow before the pictures. Favorite Detail: I loved our wedding favors. Since we are both veterinarians, donating to the ASPCA was a way for us to incorporate something that is very special to both of us.
