How did you meet? L.A. went to college with my older brother. I didn’t know him when they were in college, but years later my sister-in-law thought it would be funny to set us up, without telling my brother first.
How did you get engaged? We were spending the week at Lake George in NY when L.A. asked to take a walk. He took out an incredible ring and asked me to spend the rest of our lives together.
Details of your day: We chose navy blue bridesmaid dresses, grey tuxes with navy ties, and flowers that tied in deep pinks and purples as well as soft ivory details. The tables at the reception had a mix of tall and short centerpieces, all with amazing displays of flowers, with ivory tablecloths and navy blue napkins.
Our cake was a five-tier chocolate chip-strawberry shortcake, iced in a white buttercream icing with navy ribbon with a silver glitter monogrammed “G” cake topper. We had people dancing all night and a photo-booth with props for fun. Our ceremony took place at Beth Judah in Ventnor, and then we took jitneys over to the Stockton Seaview for our reception.
Why did you choose your venue? We had over 200 people at our wedding and wanted a place that could accommodate a large dance floor since that was very important to us. We loved the Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club, they were a pleasure to work with and we enjoyed every moment of our day.
Your wedding menu? Our cocktail hour had a variety of foods, including bruschetta, ahi tuna, tenderloin crostini, beef and chicken satay, and lamb chops. We had a harvest salad served, followed by choice of chicken piccata, salmon, or grilled sirloin steak. Dessert options included our wedding cake or choices from our Viennese station including eclairs, chocolate covered strawberries, fruit tarts, tortes and cream puffs.
All about your gown: My gown was strapless, with a sweetheart neckline, a fully beaded bodice, and corset back. The bottom of the dress had multiple layers of tulle and a chapel-length train.
Your favorite moment? Looking around and seeing the 200+ people that had traveled near and far to celebrate with us and soaking it all in!
One detail you couldn’t live without? Looking back at all of pictures I am glad we decided on flowers with colors rather than plain white/ivory. Adding colors really made them stand out and made the room look incredible
Did anything go wrong? The morning started with heavy rains and strong winds, so no outdoor pictures. However, as soon as the ceremony ended the sun came out and we ended up being able to take our pictures outside with the sun shining!
First Dance Song: Kenny Chesney, “You Had Me from Hello”
Advice for other brides? Have fun and breathe! Although there are tons of details that might seem super important to you, don’t stress if something goes wrong…most likely no one will even notice.
Where did you go for your honeymoon? We took a “mini-moon” to Nashville and Key West, followed by a longer honeymoon in Hawaii, where we spent time on Maui, Kauai, and Oahu.
