Lana and Stephen at the Wesmount Country Club

Posted on December 04, 2019 by Ariana Baio

We met the first day of medical school – we sat next to each other during orientation! We were then placed into the same anatomy dissection groups, and the rest is history.
My husband was planning on proposing to me within the next few months, so he ordered a ring. Ironically, it arrived on my birthday. While I was getting my hair and nails done, before we went out for a special birthday dinner, he went to pick it up. When he saw me after my nail appointment, apparently, he realized he had to propose that night because my nails looked THAT good. Once we got to the restaurant (HAVEN in Edgewater), he asked the hostess if we could have the table with the best view of the Hudson River. But we were told that table was specifically reserved already, so we were sat at the adjacent table. Stephen rushed through the entire dinner because he was convinced the couple at the other table was also getting engaged that evening and he wanted to beat them to it, ha!
Our color theme was burgundy, blush, champagne, and ivory with gold accents. We wanted a luxurious and formal feel to our wedding day.
We were looking at wedding venues all over New Jersey, but once we walked into the Westmount Country Club, we instantly knew it was our venue. The Continental ballroom is magical with gorgeous floor to ceiling windows overlooking the mountain, a picture perfect sunset view. The cocktail hour room was spacious and formal. Both of the rooms had outdoor patios with lounge seating perfect for a summer night. Not to mention the staff at the Westmount Country Club provides incredible service. They were wonderful to work with, and the day of our wedding we did not stress about a thing or lift a finger – everything was taken care of beautifully. The food was delicious and the variety expansive, I’m convinced it was impossible to try everything because there was so much food!
First Course: rigatoni tomato basil salad, tri-color arugula salad. Intermezzo, or lemon sorbet. Entree options: Châteaubriand, chicken rollatini, North Atlantic salmon with shrimp, lobster and lump crab stuffing, or eggplant parmigiana. Viennese Hour: wedding cake, dessert tower. Our wedding cake tiers were, vanilla cake with cannoli cream alternating with vanilla cake with raspberry fresh cream and vanilla buttercream.
My dress was a customized Eve of Milady in Ivory/Ivory with a hand beaded sheer bodice with cap sleeves and a v-shaped neckline. The skirt was made with Italian sequins under a tulle ball gown skirt. It was stunning and sparkly, it made me feel like a real life Cinderella.
As cheesy as it sounds, my favorite moment was walking out of the church once we were officially married. It was an incredible feeling being married and surrounded by everybody that I love. It makes you realize all your hard work wedding planning was worth it.
Luckily, no! The weather was high 70s, sunny, and perfect; and everything fell into place exactly as it should.

Remember your vision for your wedding day and focus on working toward that vision. Weddings are hard work and wedding planning will stress you out. It’s important to realize that it’s your day and to take a moment to step back on the big day and appreciate all your hard work with your new husband.
Bora Bora! We stayed at Le Meridien and did an all-inclusive package and stayed in an overwater bungalow at the end of the pontoon. It was purely magical.
