New Jersey Bride Kristen and Matthew Real Wedding

Details of the day: Our Wedding Day was actually our 10 year anniversary of dating (to the date!). After meeting in High School our relationship was filled with lots of adventures – together and apart – so it was important to us that the ceremony was meaningful and represented the journey we took to get there. Our ceremony was framed by a beautiful flower-filled wooden arch, and all of the bouquets were very organic looking to contrast the clean lines of our dresses. I was lucky enough to wear my DREAM wedding dress, The Pavilion by Lela Rose. The front was somewhat simple, with a beautiful deep v-neck and a subtle flare, but the real show stopper was the amazing rose-embroidered back. The guys wore custom suits by Indochino, adding a floral pocket square and brown shoes for a more casual look. Our focus was on having a gorgeous wedding that wasn’t super stuffy. The band played lots of Springsteen and kept everyone on the dance floor the entire night. Our signature cocktails – the BunnyBoo and the Mulldozer – were an homage to our college nicknames, and our Best Man and Maid of Honor added their own humor to the night by walking into the Reception with giant cardboard cut-outs of our faces. The day was silly, fun, meaningful and overall perfect.

Your favorite part: Can I have 2?! My first favorite part was our ceremony. We spent a lot of time making sure we focused on making our ceremony meaningful to us. Picking readings that reflected our history and personality, including traditional elements with our own twist, and writing our own vows really made it an emotional but lighthearted ceremony. Guests came up to us all night saying how beautiful our ceremony was! Our second favorite part of the day was after Bridal Party pictures were done. I asked our photographer if she would be up for doing a little exploring for a spot to take our Bride/Groom pictures. She said absolutely and we hopped into her car and drove along the Delaware River finding amazing locations to take our pictures. In addition to providing us with our absolute favorite pictures from the day, it was an opportunity for some much needed quiet time together before the wedding.

Advice for other brides: Don’t skimp on the ceremony! It’s easy to get wrapped up in all of the fun that will ensue after you’ve said your vows, but I think it’s important to remember why all of your friends and family are there – to celebrate your relationship!
