How did you meet?
Chris and I met about 4 months after I picked up and moved to Connecticut into an apartment all on my own with no friends. I had 2 of my college friends visiting me and they pushed me into talking to him and the next day he called and asked me on a date. I still can’t believe we met at a bar in November 2014 while everyone else was using apps and dating websites! We moved in together about a year and a half later and were engaged at the two year mark in December 2016!

How did you get engaged?
We got engaged in our first apartment on a random Tuesday night in December 2016. Chris had shopped for the ring a few weeks before and the day it arrived he couldn’t help but give it to me (he was nervous I would find it!). It was the best way to come home after a long day of work and was followed by a lot of champagne over the next few weeks!!!

Details of the day!
We had a custom heraldry painted for us in a mix of pastels (ivory, greenery, peach and blue) that inspired the overall feel for our wedding. I knew I wanted it to feel elegant and romantic with ivory linens and chairs, overflowing floral arrangements and hanging and table lit candles lighting up the room. Chris and I knew that we wanted our day to be classic beauty and Pleasantdale is the perfect venue to capture the spirit of the day. Peonies and roses were at the top of mind for me while our florist created something even more unbelievable than I could have dreamed by adding orchids, spray roses, hydrangeas, blue thistle, dusty miller and flat eucalyptus to add some greenery. The florist also decorated our beautiful 5 tier cake with the same florals to keep our overall theme consistent.

Everything came together even more beautiful than I could have imagined. The attire for the day was navy suits and black shoes for the men with custom designed ties and beautiful Jenny Yoo bridesmaids gowns in a turkish blue color. Everything came together that day even better than we could have imagined in our wildest dreams. It was a fairytale wedding and we felt like royalty from the second we arrived at the 40 acre estate. Our key elements of the day were having an amazing band, beautiful flowers (everywhere!), INCREDIBLE food (raw bar at the forefront), top shelf alcohol, after party cigars (for the men), champagne in abundance, top notch photographers/videographers and then live painter was the cherry on top!

Why did you choose your venue?
Our venue was utter perfection in every sense of the word. My parents had been there for an event and had secretly been plotting to get us there and had already put a hold on a date before we even were engaged (side note, Chris had already asked for permission so they knew it was imminent!). It was the only venue we toured and we were sold on the spot. We had the entire venue and all surrounding 40 acres to ourselves for over 24 hours…how could we say no! Chris and I also wanted somewhere elegant that had some history behind it and this venue sure did. We had also heard the food was amazing, even more reason to sign the papers!

All about your gown!
The Maggie Sottero Lisette Dress was a dress MADE for a princess and I sure did feel like one from the second I put it on. I had originally gone dress shopping with an all lace, fitted dress in mind and then saw my dress and knew it was the one. This one had a beautiful high neck illusion v-neckline with fully embellished bodice and button down back, the skirt was a-line full taffeta! I did end up getting a more fitted Jenny Yoo dress (the Paige dress) to put on halfway through our reception as my ‘party dress’ – it featured gorgeous beaded, a flattering v neckline and thin straps that criss cross to an open back.

What was your favorite moment?
The look on Chris’s face when I walked down the aisle since we had not seen each other ALL DAY! We decided against a first look because we really wanted to capture that raw emotion in the church, it was so special and I wouldn’t change that moment for the world.

One detail you couldn’t live without?
I don’t think there is a single thing I would have changed….not even joking!! It was a perfect day and night from start to finish and I don’t think there was a single thing I would do differently.

Did anything go wrong?
One of my bridesmaids lost a bouquet but that’s the worst thing that happened all day!

First dance song?
Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton

Any advice for future brides?
1) Make sure to practice walking down the aisle…I held my flowers WAY too high and no one could see the top of my dress- I was nervous but I wish I had done it differently!
2) Take a LOT of deep breaths, everything works out and you only get one night so enjoy every second
3) Never stop smiling…remember, the photographer and videographer are capturing everything!!!
4) Make sure you feel comfortable in your dress to dance the night away, 6 weeks before I ended up buying a second dress because my first dress was SUCH a big skirt when it was bustled and I knew I wouldn’t be able to dance all night with that on!
5) Have a couple glasses of champagne to calm the nerves, it helps !

Honeymoon Location
We went to Sandals Grenada and had the most incredible penthouse infinity pool suite….wouldn’t change a thing!
