How did you meet?
Daniel and I both grew up in Point Pleasant Borough, New Jersey, and went to school together. A few of my earliest memories of him involve him signing my yearbook in second grade as well as walking down the aisle with me at our first holy communion. Little did we know we’d walk down the same aisle 16 years later as husband and wife.

How did you get engaged?
After work one day, Daniel invited me to a “team-building” dinner with his coworkers. It was funny because when he invited me I asked “what are you going to propose to me in front of all of your friends?” It was a complete joke I had no idea it would actually come true. The day came and we all went to Calandra’s Italian Village in Caldwell and ate dinner. Before I knew it a waiter placed a cake in front of me and it said: “Will you Marry Me?” I look up and he knelt down and the rest is history.

Details of the day!
Obviously, Covid had affected our wedding plans; in fact the day we sent out our invitations was the day NJ had a declared state of emergency and the lockdown began. Not the best timing clearly. Days and months pass and the situation clearly did not get any better, so we decided to postpone the reception but go forward with the ceremony in 2020. I can say wholeheartedly that all we wanted to do was get married and nothing was going to stop us.

7/31/2020 finally arrives and we get ready at a hotel in Eatontown. The room my bridesmaids and I had was gorgeous, a small crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling above a minimalist setting. Of course, we were blasting appropriate wedding day songs. My bridesmaids’ dresses were a beautiful blue & seafoam color as my theme was simply ‘The Shore.’ My dress was a bright ivory ball gown with a lovely floral pattern that extended from the waist down. The time had finally come; it was time to go get married. We looked for our limo and it was nowhere to be found. Instead, we find a beautiful white trolley that was actually ours to use. We ride to the church and though our reception was postponed, I was happy to see my close friends and family still attend our ceremony; this meant the world to me. We were actually the first couple to get married at the church that summer due to the times we were living in. White roses lined the pews and beautiful white flower arrangements sat at the alter. Before I knew it we were married and walked out of the church celebrating. We took gorgeous pictures inside the church in front of stained glass windows and outside as well.

We then headed to the beach at the end of Bridge Avenue to get even more pictures. We continued on to the Grenville Hotel & Restaurant in Bay Head to have a small, intimate gathering to celebrate our marriage. We were still able to have our first dance to a violin rendition of “A Thousand Years.” The soft lighting and calm atmosphere really made our wedding day special. Originally we were going to forgo any plans of a reception in 2020 but I’m glad we persevered and truly got a celebration we deserved.

However, we were ready to party in 2021. We purposefully postponed our reception to 7/31/2021, our one-year anniversary. A lot of things happened that year and we had to add a tiny +1 to our guest list, our 2-month-old son. Our reception day comes and we get ready in Eatontown again, much to the same beat as 2020; we had a blast. We all came back and fit back into all the same dresses one year later. We made a pit stop at Monmouth University to do our first look (okay technically our second look) and took gorgeous pictures in front of the gardens at The Great Hall. Daniel and I are actually alumni of Monmouth, hence our desire for pictures there. The first look had us both in tears: “You look exactly the same as last year, so beautiful” he said. Obviously, this meant a lot to someone who had a baby 8 weeks prior. We took pictures in front of the flowers and the grandiose architecture on campus.

We then left for our original reception venue at the Lobster Shanty in Point Pleasant. It was a perfect summer day…almost like we were meant to have this day. We arrive and many locals and tourists in the area waved and congratulate us as we walked inside. We decided to do a small ceremony for those unable to attend the last year. It was simply perfect. We got married ‘again’ under a beautiful floral arch overlooking the bay around sunset. The party then officially began and we finally danced on the clouds to A Thousand Years one more time. The Sunset Ballroom looked amazing as the orange sunlight reflected off of our flower arrangements on tables that had our shore-themed mason jars and seafoam-colored napkins. I had never been so happy watching all of my friends and family have so much fun after such a hard year. We cut our cake, also shore-themed with shell and starfish decorations, and continued to celebrate. Our son also made a short appearance and we danced with him to the Circle of Life. The night came to an end and we sat back and were so thankful that we were able to celebrate our marriage.

Why did you choose your venue?
Daniel and I came to a decision on our venue rather quickly. It was important to us to get married where we both grew up in Point Pleasant. It was where we started off and it was where we wanted to start our new chapter together.

What was on your menu?
Our wedding menu consisted of Filet Mignon, Chicken Marsala, and Herb-crusted Salmon. Our cake was a yellow cake with vanilla frosting and with cannoli cream filling.

All about your gown!
My dress was a bright ivory ballroom gown with a sweetheart neckline. It had a beautiful bodice with intricately sewn flowers and beads. The floral pattern extended down to the bottom of the gown with beautiful lace lining the bottom of the dress. It was actually the first dress (but not the only dress) that I tried on. It was exactly what I was looking for.

What was your favorite moment?
One of my absolute favorite moments was the trolley ride to the Lobster Shanty in 2021. As we crossed the bridge into Point Pleasant Beach, “A Moment Like This” by Kelly Clarkson began playing over the speakers and I was in absolute tears. The song started with “What if I told you, that it’s all meant to be” and it really affected me considering how much uncertainty we went through to get to this day. “Some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this” became my anthem. The song also ended just as we pulled up to the venue; it was like someone sent me that song. Another notable moment was the day of our wedding ceremony in 2020, there was a 70% chance of rain that day and it was supposed to be all day; we came out of the church and all the clouds began to fade away and the sun shined through. I also felt that someone was up there looking down on us that day.

One detail you couldn’t live without?
I could not live without Dancing on the Clouds, it was something I always dreamt of for my first wedding song.

Did anything go wrong?
Actually, nothing really went wrong on either of the two days. Anything ‘wrong’ that did happen was actually before both dates and entirely covid related; planning a wedding during a pandemic was tough!

First dance song?
A Thousand Years by Christina Perri

Any advice for future brides?
Do not give up, even when things don’t look so perfect. The whole point of a wedding is to celebrate love, and no matter how you celebrate it, it will always be perfect because it’s about you and your partner.

Honeymoon Location?
In 2020 we went to Niagara Falls and then to Aruba right after the wedding to get away; we definitely needed some downtime after the intense year we had. In 2021 we did not go anywhere after our reception, instead, we went back home to take care of our little one. We eventually did go to Disney a few months later to give us a break.
