How did you meet?
Chris and I met in 2009 when we worked together at a nursing home. For a couple of years we were just friends. It wasn’t until March 2011 when I gave my 2 weeks’ notice and told Chris I was moving to Colorado that he decided to ask me out to dinner. We went to what I thought was just a friendly dinner but as we started to get to know each other we realized how great we got along and how much we liked each other. We spent every day together until the day I left for Colorado. Luckily we stayed in touch and he ended up coming to visit me in Denver 2 weeks later. It was then that we realized we were falling in love and we decided we would do whatever it took to be together. Chris moved out to CO about a month later and ultimately we both came back to NJ to be close to our family and friends. The rest is history!

How did you get engaged?
On 5/19/17 we decided to have a picnic dinner on the beach. As the sun was setting we walked down to feel the water and I took out my phone to take a picture of us. After I took the picture, Chris calmly said to me “last picture of us before we’re engaged”. I turned to look at him and he was down on one knee with a ring in his hand. I was so shocked I started crying and of course said yes!

Details of the day!
Our wedding didn’t have a theme but we did aim for a beachy vibe with sea glass and muted shades of blue to reflect the ocean and sky. Our bridesmaids wore long flowy dresses in four different shades of blue (Larkspur, Mist, Cloudy and Icelandic from The Dessy Group) and carried bouquets with open white roses, blush O’Hare garden roses, dusty miller, white ranunculus and eucalyptus. Sea glass accents were displayed throughout our venue as sea glass table numbers, sea glass vases on the escort card table and sea glass in our details photos. Our favors were little boxes of fudge from Jenks Sweet Shop in Point Pleasant. We offered 4 different flavors, chocolate, cookie dough, Oreo and Heath bar. Our fudge taste testing was probably our favorite part of wedding planning.

Why did you choose your venue?
We both love the beach and being on the water. Crystal Point is located on the Manasquan River and has beautiful views of the water from it’s elegant ballroom. Everyone there was so friendly and we knew right away that it was the place for us.

What was on your menu?
Our guests had a choice of filet mignon, jumbo lump crab-stuffed flounder and chicken crystal.
Our guest raved about how good, and how much food there was.
The cake was half chocolate half vanilla, with an oreo mousse and chocolate cookie crumbles layered throughout and a whipped cream icing.

All about your gown!
I wore a Casablanca gown, Style 1975 in ivory. I loved the low back, the uniqueness of the swiss dot lace, and the delicate pearl encrusted straps.

What was your favorite moment?
After our ceremony ended and we walked down the aisle and into the lobby for our receiving line, we had a few moments to ourselves where we just hugged and took it all in. It was so nice to just be together and have a sweet moment. I think we both felt a mixture of happiness and relief knowing we were finally married!

First dance song?
“Stand By Me” the Florence and the Machine version

Any advice for future brides?
Try to take a few minutes alone with your new spouse to pause and take it all in together. The day is overwhelming and goes so fast, it’s nice to spend a few quiet moments just the two of you.
