How They Met: Kait and Jimmy give meaning to the term “high school sweethearts.” Having both grown up in Lakewood, the pair first met in gym class and started dating when Kait managed the books for Jimmy’s varsity baseball team.

Will You Marry Me?: Eager to escape the chill of New Jersey winter, Kait, 29, planned every detail of a romantic long weekend in Key West, Florida…except for one major moment! “I figured that we could wing-it on our first night there and relax,” she says. Little did she know that Jimmy, 27, had upgraded their hotel suite, rented a Mustang convertible and arranged for a luxurious dinner on the beach. At sunset, Jimmy got down on one knee and popped the question. “It was the sweetest moment ever,” says Kait.

The Wedding Gown: From the moment Kait watched Kate Middleton walk down the aisle at Westminster Abbey, she knew her wedding gown would be long-sleeved elegant lace. She also wanted her gown to be backless, so she contacted her trusted long-time tailor to handle the task of heavily altering the back of her Vera Wang gown.

Details of the Day: Since Kait has always loved the springtime and Jimmy has a bit of a green thumb, the couple knew their May 7, 2016, wedding would be a vibrant, bright scene with flowers in bloom. The bride started with a bold choice for her bridesmaids dresses—a green floral print by ASOS—and accented the print with subtle natural touches. The ceremony was held in the chapel at Allaire State Park in Wall, and reception centerpieces at the Oyster Point Hotel had pink spray roses and green foliage set on fresh-cut log rounds with ivory candles and gold wooden table numbers.

First Dance Song: “You Make It Real” by James Morrison. “I loved how off-the-map it was for us, and how we seldom hear it—it makes it that much more special,” says Kait.

Flowers: Bouquets were bursting with O’Hara and Juliet garden roses, peach and pink ranunculus, dusty miller, blue delphiniums, lemon leaves and stock.

The Menu: At cocktail hour, guests indulged in passed hors d’oeuvres—shrimp cocktail, grilled Reuben sandwiches, barbeque pork sliders and New England lobster rolls. Tuscan chicken prosciutto, filet mignon and horseradish, and honey-roasted salmon was served for dinner.

Favors: The couple grew succulent plants in “DIY” gold painted mini terracotta pots.

Honeymoon: After spending 12 days in Maui and Kauai, Hawaii, the couple is home in Toms River.
