How did you meet?
Mike and I met in January 2016 at Green Rock Tap & Grill in Hoboken, NJ. We immediately knew something was there and talked in my car until 6 am that night, or should I say morning! I drove home knowing that he was the one.

How did you get engaged?
Nantucket is our favorite place. We’re in love with the island’s charm, the cobblestone streets, vintage cars, and the incredible seafood. We decided to take a trip out for the Figawi race Memorial Day Weekend in 2019. On Saturday night, we boarded the Endeavor for a sunset sail. It couldn’t have been a more perfect night. We were all laughing and getting to know the others on board when Mary jokingly asked if we were married. Mike took the opportunity and said “Funny you should ask…” throwing me off guard. But when I turned around to face him, all I saw was him holding a shiny thing and smiling. I don’t remember much of anything at that moment, but luckily we had some amazing people there to capture the moment for us. We’re forever grateful.

Details of the day!
The theme for our wedding was Vintage Chic. I wanted a lot of gold, hunter green, navy, maroon, and ivory. My bridesmaids wore champagne-colored dresses, while the men wore Navy Ralph Lauren suits with maroon silk ties. Carolyn of Gather Flower Shop nailed my floral vision. I wanted romantic, vintage floral arrangements that were very organic and complemented the autumn yellows and reds that were seen throughout the property on our wedding day. Since we married during the pandemic, we offered all our guests custom face masks that one of my bridesmaid’s mom made for us in navy and champagne, complementing our color palette. We also had copper mugs customized with our initials that complemented my Nantucket Mule signature drink perfectly. Custom Koozies were available at the bar to keep our guests’ hands warm when sipping on cold beers while playing horseshoes and cornhole during cocktail hour. Small succulents were also on display for guests to grab and “let love grow” as they were leaving our reception. Lastly, margarita-style brick oven pizzas freshly made by the Pizza Vita food truck were the ultimate late-night snack as guests headed back home or to the hotels.

Why did you choose your venue?
The Water Witch Club was our original venue! We loved the location since it was right up the road from our first date (Bahr’s Landing), and the property and style of the house reminded us of Nantucket and the Hamptons, some of our favorite places to vacation. The house is also on the National Register of Historic Places, and Mike and I are huge history buffs. But after an unfortunate double-booking incident when trying to reschedule for 2021, we decided to change venues and get married at our cousin’s private residence in Millstone Township, NJ – Spoondrift Manor. Their home sits on roughly 5 acres and is located on a beautiful tree-lined cul-de-sac. Despite changing venues, we still managed to have the most beautiful and intimate wedding we’ve always wanted on a perfect Autumn Saturday afternoon.

What was on your menu?
We wanted the food to be memorable, and Falco’s delivered. We had an arrangement of passed hors d’oeuvres for cocktail hour that included bites like coconut shrimp, baked brie with raspberry sauce, crab cakes, buffalo cauliflower, tomato soup shooters with grilled cheese, walnut, arugula, and gorgonzola crostini as well as a griddle station for BBQ pulled pork sliders, beer-braised short rib sliders, and cheesesteaks. For our reception, we had a first-course autumn salad consisting of dried cranberries, toasted pecans, and shaved fennel in a fig vinaigrette, followed by a vodka Campanelle pasta dish as our second course. Guests were then able to choose between horseradish encrusted sirloin, French breast of chicken served in a tarragon apple cider, or grilled vegetables over a large Portobello mushroom with spinach and fresh mozzarella as their main entrée, all accompanied by sliced ciabatta, julienne carrots, green beans, yellow squash, and garlic mashed potatoes. Our dessert selection included a four-tier wedding cake (chocolate mousse, vanilla buttercream, and carrot layers), as well as passed ice cream pops served over dry ice and Krispy Kreme donuts displayed on our very own donut wall.

All about your gown!
Like many others, I created a Pinterest wedding board years before I was even engaged. I pinned things once in a while and will say that my wedding dress silhouette and style stayed very similar over those years. I always loved dresses that looked vintage and weren’t pure white. I knew I always wanted to get married in the Fall, so sleeves were always something I envisioned, and I loved dresses with a lot of sequin and appliqué. When I tried on my dress, I immediately pictured myself in it at our reception, and when Theresa (from Seng Couture) mentioned that Casablanca offered full customizations (like adding sleeves), I knew it was the dress for me. Due to the grassy terrain, the day of, the bottom of my dress was quite the sight, so I changed into a lace applique midi dress by Jenny Yoo towards the end of the night.

What was your favorite moment?
It’s hard to choose just one moment – I could truly name a dozen. I think one of my favorite moments was standing on top of Posh’s subwoofer with my CO2 cannon, and just watching all of our guests dancing, smiling, and enjoying themselves while I blasted them with ice-cold fog. Amidst everything that was going on in the world at that time, and all that Mike and I had gone through last year to make sure we were able to celebrate our love in a smart and safe way, at that moment, everything felt normal, and I truly felt pure bliss. Mike’s favorite moment was driving Magnolia’s vintage golf cart during our sparkler send-off at the end of the night, knowing that we pulled off the wedding of our dreams.

One detail you couldn’t live without?
I have to say this because my husband is going to get a kick out of it when he reads the article. I knew I needed a light-up sign of our name “The Henrys.” Mike saw me looking at neon ones on Etsy months prior and promised me that he can make one that’ll go more with our wedding vibe. He kept his promise and did make one out of wood, THE DAY BEFORE OUR WEDDING. Luckily it came out absolutely perfect, haha, and now hangs above our bar cart in our home.

Did anything go wrong?
The morning of the wedding is just so hectic. We forgot to give the corsages to my mom, mother-in-law, and sisters at the hotel, and I ran out for the first look without my veil or my dress sleeves fully pulled up. But other than that, the day ran very smoothly!

Any advice for future brides?
At the end of the day, it’s about who you’re surrounded by on your wedding day. We went from postponing our wedding to October 2021, to changing venues two months prior, to having the most perfect wedding day we could have ever hoped for on our cousin’s property. Just remember to slow down and take a moment to soak it all in, because it truly is an amazing day that you’ll want to remember forever.

Honeymoon Location
We traveled to Nantucket and stayed at the Brass Lantern Inn with our 3-year-old fur baby, Finnegan, where we enjoyed some well-needed relaxation and fresh seafood.
