Details of the day:
Dan and I spent more than a year planning our wedding. From our cake topper, which included our dog, to our favors for St. Jude’s, we wanted each thing to express who we were as a couple. I wanted to make sure that we would never forget all the little details that we worked so hard on. So, as a gift to Dan, I hired a videographer and surprised him with a video message on the morning of our wedding. He surprised me with a music box and locket. Inside the locket were two beautiful engagement pictures of us. I will never forget as I read his card to me on the morning of our wedding, he wrote exactly what I had said in his video, and I could not wait to meet him at the end of the aisle.
My favorite part:
It is hard to pick a favorite part of your wedding day! The morning of our wedding, it was absolutely pouring…I mean teeming rain! We bought adorable umbrellas, and I was ready to hike up my dress and dance around in some puddles. That whole morning, Dan and I did not talk to each other, even over text messages. As I was about to leave to go to the church, it stopped raining. No one could believe it! As I walked down the aisle to look at my fiance, our eyes met and just like the first time I met him, nothing in the world mattered. As he took my hand right before we became husband and wife, neither one of us said a word, and the silence and tears in our eyes said everything. It was the most amazing day of my life.
Advice for other brides:
In the middle of the reception, go hide in the corner for a minute and try to take everything in…Dan and I brought our own camera and took a self portrait in the limo! It was a way to take a step back and appreciate that this one day was all about us and our love and commitment for each other. Also, if you’re anything like me, splurge on your photographer! You can not possibly see everything at your wedding…but a good photographer can help you re-live the day over and over again.
