How He Asked: On August 14, 2016 I had officially become the luckiest woman on the planet. It was a Friday evening which consisted of terrible weather – it was raining cats and dogs and Sam had randomly called me and asked me to go over his house. On a normal day I would decline because of the weather but for whatever reason without hesitation I said yes and I was on my way! I got to his house went to his room and sat in bed, about to take a scoop out of the ice cream I had just previously stolen from his fridge. I looked up and there he was on one knee. The man of my dreams asked me to spend the rest of my life with him, there I was in gym clothes, unwashed hair, and no makeup (just the way he loves me) – as raw, personal, and intimate as what was happening at that very moment, and without a doubt in my mind I said “Yes!” Details of the Day: My overall theme was to go a bit rustic but still keep the glam, because I love both looks so much. I knew the glam would naturally come from the venue itself and me the bride, as I had jewels on my wedding dress and over the top veil. I focused the rustic on the flowers and my girls who wore bright red (my favorite color) dresses paired with hair-do’s that consisted of loose waves and braids. The groomsmen would tone down the red with a charcoal gray that would bind all the colors I had in mind together. Branches, wood, ivory and some greenery played a huge part in bringing the rustic vision I had to life. The Venue: The Tides Estate in North Haledon, NJ was one on my list of top places to check out once I got engaged. When I walked in for my appointment, my heart dropped and there I saw my wedding day pass me by. With every step I took, I imagined myself in my wedding dress along side my future husband; reciting vows in the gorgeous garden area, mingling with our guest in the huge cocktail section and partying the day away in that breathtaking grand ballroom. The Menu: Lamb chops, sushi bar, perogies and any salad you can think of was just a small portion of the wide selection of food during the cocktail hour. For dinner, our guests had a choice of “melt in your mouth” filet mignon, savory salmon, or some zesty chicken franchaise. Our four tier cake which not only came out beautiful but tastes amazing, was more than enough for our 200 guests. Two tiers were for our chocolate lovers with an Oreo filling, and the other two had a “dolce de leche” filling. The Gown: I walked into Memories by Reem in Ridgefield, NJ, just a couple of weeks after being engaged and I was on a mission to find my dress. It would be the first and last bridal boutique I walked in to. The assistant asked me to pick out five dresses and by the second dress I found “the one.” A stunning ivory gown with blush undertone and lace overlay all over. Topped with pearls and rhinestones around the chest area. The semi off the shoulder look along side open back just stole my heart. I tried on the dress and it was a given this would be it. Favorite Moment: My favorite moment was exchanging vows with my soon-to-be husband. Spilling my heart out, not only for my one true love to hear, but everyone that meant something to me was really special. I wanted the world to know at that very moment how in love I had been with this man! Detail You Couldn’t Live Without: My day wouldn’t have been the same if I wouldn’t have been able to have my father there. A man who has been by my side always, had fallen sick a couple of years ago and was unable to walk. I made it my mission to have him there regardless. We had a father and daughter dance which I sat with him in his wheel chair as my mom pushed us around. There wasn’t a dry eye in the venue. I will never ever forget that moment. First Dance Song: “Say You Won’t Let Go” Boyce Avenue cover Advice For Other Brides: I’m naturally an anxious, negative, nervous person which I know most brides can be. But to all the worried brides: if you have everything planned ahead of time and you KNOW you’re making the right decision with the person you’re marrying, on the day of your wedding you WILL feel the most relaxed, calm, and happy you’ve ever felt. Right before walking down the aisle, instead of pacing back and forth or feeling sick, I was snapping pictures, having a drink, asking for food and smiling! BEST DAY EVER!
