Dana and Adam at a Private Residence in Colts Neck

Posted on January 20, 2020 by Ariana Baio

We met the new “traditional” way now, on Tinder. We had some mutual friends so we agreed to meet with friends at trivia night in Atlantic Highlands at On The Deck and the rest is history!

It was almost my birthday so he told me we were going to dinner at my favorite restaurant, Copper Canyon. We both were dressed nicely and on the way to dinner he asked if we could stop at the Twin Lights, a historic lighthouse in Highlands, NJ. It was a windy day so naturally I didn’t want to get out of the car, I wanted my hair to stay nice for dinner. But he convinced me and over looking New York City on a beautiful afternoon in November my best friend asked me to spend forever with him.

We got married at a farm so I went with a rustic chic theme. We had navy and gold colors. The flowers were hydrangeas which have been my favorite since I was a child, my grandparents had a huge hydrangea bush in their backyard. We put up a tent off the barn and hung string lights. It overlooked where the horses were for a pretty backdrop. We used the Jess Press to help add some details such as chalkboards, acrylic signs and hand written seating cards. She even made a signature drink sign with our dogs on it so they would be there with us too.

We asked a close family friend if we could get married on their property. They live in a beautiful home located on a farm with a barn and horses in Colts Neck, NJ. We wanted something different, something that was ours and wasn’t where we had been to 10 other weddings before. All of the venues here are beautiful, but none compared to this beautiful farm.

We started with a cocktail hour which included a cold station including an international cheese display, a mediterranean station with fresh homemade mozzarella, a Philadelphia cheesesteak station with boardwalk fries along with unlimited butler style passed hor d’oeuvres. We did a non-traditional way of serving meals. We used Falcos Catering and served “mini meals”. Each guest was able to try every meal we selected. While this meal was being passed in a martini glass there was a station set up where they could go and get more of their favorites. The first meal was eggplant and mozzarella pinwheels over penne vodka, sliced filet mignon over portabella infused smashed potatoes with a bordelaise drizzle and lastly sautéed shrimp and mushroom over risotto. The wedding cake was from Chocolate Carousel in Wall Township, NJ along with a fresh Belgium waffle and ice cream station. The cake was golden yellow with cannoli filling. Lastly, on the way out, guests were able to grab homemade chocolate chip cookies, pork roll egg and cheese sliders and fresh brewed coffee.

I made an appointment at Kleinfeld Bridal and took my mom, my mother in law, my two sister in laws and one of my bridesmaids. My maid of honor was on FaceTime since she came down with the flu! Lisa assisted me in picking out my dream dress, she asked me if I trusted her and brought me three dresses, that was it! As soon as I came out of the room every person, including myself, said this is the one. I tried on three more but none compared to this one. Lisa then had me put it back on, with a vail and fake flowers and everyone cried, including myself!

My favorite moment was our first look. It was the only moment of the day that was just the two of us. He was waiting for me outside under a gate with all greenery. When he turned around, he started to tear up and it was the most special moment. We both cried, we hugged each other and in the moment in wast just us.

My flowers! They were so beautiful, and everything I could’ve wanted and more. They really made the tent so beautiful.

Well we had a nor eastern blow in right on the day of the wedding! The tent flooded and it seemed like a disaster but everyone worked so hard, especially Falcos Catering to make sure it was still perfect and our photographers were amazing at creating the perfect places for pictures! I wouldn’t change a thing if I could go back.

Dont stress about the little things, or the things you can’t control, like the weather. No matter what, everyone will have a great time. No one even knew our entire venue flooded! The most important thing is you are marrying your best friend, no matter what details were forgotten or what didn’t go exactly according to plan.

Sandals Grande Antigua, we had a butler honeymoon suite and it was amazing!
