Courtney and Ian at Running Deer Golf Club

A Winter Valentine's Day Wedding at Running Deer Golf Club - New Jersey Bride

“My dress was a silhouetted ball gown with a jeweled top, cap sleeves and a big flowing bottom. I paired them with Bagdley Mischka light blue heels. My groom wore a Vera Wang tuxedo. My flowers were a mix of orchids, calla lilies, garden roses and hydrangeas. The bridesmaids each wore a full-length eggplant gown with a key-hole back. We wanted the day to have a romantic feel, but not full-on Valentines Day, so our colors were eggplant, blush and ivory.”

“The tables at the reception were covered in eggplant linens. We had three different centerpiece arrangements: (1) a manzanita branch piece with hanging lights and flowers covering the bottom, (2) vases with submerged flowers and floating candles, (3) pillar candles in vases with flowers adjacent. All of the tables were named after elephants at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya. Each year for Valentine’s day, Ian adopts an elephant from there for me.”

“The cake was a mix of red velvet with cream cheese frosting, and chocolate chip cake with vanilla buttercream. We decided upon roses and pearls for the exterior of the cake. We also had a signature drink we titled Always By My Cider, which was hot apple cider with rum and butterscotch liquor.”

If you could change one thing about your wedding what would it be?

Advice for other brides:
“Discuss every single detail with your vendors. We assumed how some things would be handled, and when the time came we were not thrilled with them. Make sure your venue knows how you would like every single thing, down to the coat check, the favors, and what to do when people arrive early.”
