How did you meet?
Two of our friends (and both in our bridal party) had met on a dating app and were going out on a few dates. They decided to go out with some friends to a local bar in Fairmount, Philly! (I wasn’t feeling too hot, but tagged along because #girlcode.) I tried to Irish goodbye early in the evening (disappear without saying goodbye) and Bob caught me on my way out. Rest is history!
How did you get engaged?
We had flown to Miami for the weekend with another couple. On our first day there, Bob ended up in Urgent Care with the flu! So, he spent the rest of the trip in bed. On the last day, he got enough energy to make it to brunch and insisted we head to the beach. Despite the lousy weather, the guy had been in bed for three days so we humored him and went to the beach. That’s when he popped the question!
Details of the day!
I didn’t really have a theme in mind. I was trying to keep it classic: whites and golds with pops of green. Our flowers were stunning arrangements with white florals and greenery. Bob and I love champagne so our seating chart was a champagne wall with each person’s name and table inside the glass! We also are big coffee drinkers, so we got our favorite local coffee (Ocean City Coffee Company) for our favors. All of the signage was made by me (quarantine project!) on clear acrylic signs.
Why did you choose your venue?
We had attended a wedding the year prior at the Atlantic City Country Club and we had the best time and the food was amazing! It has a classic charm to it that we fell in love with. Once we toured that venue after we were engaged we canceled all the other venues because we just knew.
What was on your menu?
Our wedding menu: Filet, crab imperial stuffed shrimp, herb-encrusted grouper, veggie option (eggplant pasta). Cocktail hour: Passed Apps: Bacon-wrapped scallops, cheesesteak eggrolls, lobster mac and cheese spoons, mini crabcakes, shrimp cocktail shooters, mini grilled cheese and tomato shooters, beef and mushroom skewers. Action Stations: Mashed potato bar, pasta station (penne vodka, farfalle sun-dried tomato pesto), carving station. Cake: Almond cake with raspberry filling
All about your gown!
When I walked into Free Love Bridal in Cape May, I had envisioned a long-sleeved lace dress and had my heart set on that. But, once I tried on this dress…I cried. I had said nothing “poofy or sparkly,” and that’s exactly what I left with and it was absolutely perfect! Something about this dress just said “bride”!
What was your favorite moment?
My favorite moment was getting to step away from it all with my husband and do a sunset photo op, it was nice to take a breather, talk a little and have a moment to ourselves.
One detail you couldn’t live without?
Live band! Central Park was amazing and made everyone get up and dance. Or the champagne wall. That was a crowd pleaser!
Did anything go wrong?
Nothing (that I know of!)
First dance song?
“Tennessee Whiskey,” by Chris Stapleton.
Any advice for future brides?
Don’t stress the small stuff (easier said than done right?); it will get done and it will be perfect! Focus on enjoying yourself!!!
