Their Story

Victoria and Tyler tied the knot on June 30, 2023 after meeting years earlier in high school. “I was a freshman and told my sister, who was a senior, that I thought this sophomore, Tyler, was cute,” says Victoria. “Tyler’s brother was also a senior and my sister mentioned it to him. A couple weeks later at a big school event Tyler asked for my number and here we are 15 years later!”

The Proposal

The pair got engaged on February 19, 2022 after moving into their first apartment together. Tyler’s proposal included a series of envelopes with years written on them; each one contained something special they’d done on that year’s Valentine’s Day. The last one was extra-special.

Details of the Day

Victoria and Tyler incorporated a theme of “romantic and timeless” into their wedding. “I wanted everything to look light and ethereal,” says the bride. They held their ceremony at Saint Michael in Cranford and their reception at Brooklake Country Club in Florham Park.

The bridesmaids wore pale blue, and the flowers were ivory and blush.

Victoria’s bouquet was wrapped in fabric from her mom’s wedding dress, and included charms of her grandpa, uncle and best friend who passed away.

The couple danced and sang the night away with their favorite songs. “I was even handed the microphone and everyone formed a circle and sang along with me to my favorite song, ‘Friends in Low Places,'” Victoria says. “It was a very unexpected moment, and I loved every second of it.”

Instead of formal favors, the couple donated to two organizations that are important to them: Sepsis Alliance and Cure Alzheimer’s Fund.

Choosing the Venue

“We fell in love with the beautiful grounds at Brooklake Country Club,” says Victoria. “Our favorite was the outdoor patio overlooking the golf course. It was the perfect backdrop for a summer wedding.”

They were fans of the elegant, spacious room that still felt intimate with 170 guests. “Also, the view of the golf course from the reception room was just beautiful,” she adds. “Tyler loves golf, so it was an added bonus for him to see the golf course all night.”

Favorite Moment 

“One of the most special moments was our last song. We played Frank Sinatra’s ‘New York, New York’ and as Tyler and I danced in the center of the dance floor together, soaking up our last song, all of our guests were surrounding us in a giant circle swaying, dancing, and singing along to the song. The genuine love and joy felt from our family and friends at that time was so special and truly unforgettable. It was the perfect way to end our perfect celebration.”

One Detail They Couldn’t Live Without

“Our amazing support system from our bridal party and parents. They brought the best energy the whole entire day and danced with us the whole entire night. We are so grateful to have such amazing family and friends.”

Advice for Other Couples 

“Be true to who you are as a couple. It is very easy to get overwhelmed and carried away in the planning process. Have a foundation of what vibe you want your day to have and then do what makes you and your fiancé happy,” says Victoria.

Honeymoon

The couple spent five days in Sorrento, Italy, then headed to Greece, where they enjoyed four days in Santorini and two days in Athens.
