Brittany and Joseph at Park Chateau Estate & Gardens

Joe and I grew up in Millstone Township together. Being one grade apart, we went through elementary school, middle school and college together and our brothers have been best friends for years. But we never really knew each other. Two years after college, I went out one night with my friend Alexandra to a dive bar. When we were there, I recognized Joe and we said hello to him. After that night we started hanging out as friends. We were together constantly – going out to the clubs together, trying out new restaurants, gym sessions etc. After being friends for a little over a year, Joe and I started dating – and the rest is history!
My family goes camping at Castaways RV Resort and Campground every August in Ocean City, Maryland. It is always a fun time about 40 of my extended family attend every year! Joe was unable to make the trip because of his busy work schedule, little did I know, he was going to surprise me there with a proposal in front of our families. My immediate family and I were headed up to the boardwalk to meet up with my dad’s cousin, as we walking, we passed beautiful sandcastles on the beach. As we stopped, I saw a guy waving at him with both arms. I looked at the guy and didn’t recognize him because he was so far away. My brother eventually said, “Hey Britt doesn’t that look like Joe?” I looked again and was very confused what he was doing here. I started to walk over to him by myself, and when we were close enough he took me by the end, brought me between two palm trees, and next to an enormous sandcastle that said “Brittany and Joseph”. In that moment, I realized what was happening! He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him- I happily said “yes”!
Our wedding was one week before Valentine’s Day and we wanted the vibe of the room to be romantic with lots of white flowers and candle light. Our florist, Dahlias Floral and Event Design, helped make our dreams into a reality! As people entered Park Chateau, they immediately saw the staircase dressed in beautiful flowers which matched our centerpieces in the ballroom. As they continued to walk in, our guests saw candles, a generations-of-love table and our engagement shoot pictures strategically placed throughout the venue. As they entered the ballroom, our centerpieces were the focal point as they walked in. The centerpieces on each table were on top of an orchid-filled vase with white hydrangeas, pink roses and a touch of Italian ruscus hanging down. Surrounding the centerpieces were champagne floating candles, votive candles and rose petals. Our sweetheart table was surrounded by candles to bring a more romantic feel to the room. Before our guests left at the end of the night they each took a bottle of wine as a favor to enjoy the next weekend for Valentine’s Day!
As soon as I saw Park Chateau I knew this was the venue for Joe and I. As we drove up we saw the beautiful grounds and at that moment I started to envision our wedding there. The doors were opened for us by the staff and we walked into the lobby. All I could think to myself was wow! It was breathtaking. As we toured the building I tried to hide all of my excitement, each room was better than the next and it had everything we wanted! Once we sat down with Preston to talk about our visit, he impressed us even more by all of the food choices. Our families are Italian and food is the #1 priority at a wedding!
The food was delicious ! We started our dinner with everyone having a salad. Our guests then had a choice between the chateaubriand with a cabernet sauce, pecan chicken which was a boneless breast of chicken encrusted with pecans and served with an apricot sauce or the oven-baked salmon served with an herb infused cream sauce, garnished with a crab claw. For dessert, we had various stations set up for our guests and our wedding cake! Our four-tier wedding cake from Calandra’s Bakery had two layers of vanilla cake with caramel, one layer of vanilla cake with cannoli filling and one layer of red velvet cake.
Everyone kept telling me, “when you try on the right one you will know”. I was very concerned, because I didn’t want to make the wrong decision. I tried on so many dresses in every style and nothing felt right. After trying on 50+ dresses I felt like I was going to have to settle on a dress until I stepped into Kleinfeld’s. No other bridal shop can compare to what Kleinfeld’s had to offer me! As soon as I told them what I was looking for they brought me many great choices. When I tried on my Pnina Tornai designed dress for the first time the smile on my face was uncontrollable. It was perfect! It had everything I wanted – a mermaid fit, illusion back, cutouts on the front, and sparkle all over! The feeling that everyone was telling me finally happened – and I was so glad I found my perfect dress.
My favorite moment of the entire day was having fun dancing all night! Our DJ, Jason Jani, was amazing. He really listened to what Joe and I wanted for our wedding and he had everyone on the dance floor for the entire night. SCE Event Group along with AJH/Don’t Miss a Beat Events brought us amazing extras to enhance our event which included it snowing on the dance floor, a mirror photo booth, indoor firework fountains, CO2 blasts, CO2 cannons and to top it all off a 12 foot LED robot!
One detail I could not live without was the florals on the staircase. Dahlias Floral and Event Design did all of our flowers and they were better than I could have ever imagined – especially the staircase. It made such a statement when people walked into Park Chateau and was the focal point for pictures!

Don’t sweat the small stuff. Your wedding is going to be an amazing day! It goes by so fast so make sure you enjoy every moment of it.
We haven’t gone on our honeymoon yet, but we are planning to go to Hawaii this August!
