How did you meet?
We met freshman year of high school 15 years ago while being part of the same group of friends but did not start dating until college.

How did you get engaged?
We got engaged while on vacation in the Finger Lakes right before sunset overlooking Cayuga Lake.

Details of the day!
Our wedding day was a dream! We were so happy to be celebrating with our family and closest friends. We couldn’t have had more perfect weather, which was amazing since we planned to have an outdoor ceremony! We kept our colors soft and romantic with blushes, creams, and pinks. The bridesmaids wore long blush dresses while the guys wore light beige tuxes with cream color ties. The flowers were a mix of hydrangeas, roses, dahlias, zinnias, and succulents with lush greens to fill them out. We wanted our favors to be something homemade with love so with my in-laws we made homemade limoncello as our favors.

The guys got ready at the groom’s childhood home, while I got ready at the venue with my mom and bridesmaids. It was so fun getting ready at SkyView because I got to see the whole day come together. Our ceremony was beautiful, we spent weeks writing our own vows and it was so special for us to share them with each other and our closest friends and family. We also had a close family friend officiate our ceremony. That was also very special to us since we wanted someone to marry us who knew us as a couple.

During the cocktail hour they opened the floor to ceiling windows for our guests to enjoy a nice breeze and watch the sunset over the mountains. The DJ had the dance floor packed throughout the entire reception! We had so much fun dancing with everyone all night. We took dance lessons for our first dance and were excited to show our family and friends what we have been working on for months! We nailed it! During our first dance, our DJ used dry ice to give us that dancing in the clouds effect. It was so romantic and perfect.

We also had a live painter paint our first dance. It was so fun to see the painting come together and our guests were continuously checking on it throughout the reception to see the progress. At the end of the night we had a food truck serving different kinds of empanadas for our guests to enjoy on the way back to the hotel.

Why did you choose your venue?
We love gorgeous views and knew we wanted to get married outdoors with an amazing backdrop. We also like the rustic look with exposed wood and romantic, soft, dreamy details. SkyView offered all of that with a spacious cocktail hour area with floor to ceiling windows that open to a beautiful view, wooden floors, and a large wooden bar. It had chandeliers, twinkle lights, and tulle hanging from the ceiling, a fireplace in the reception area and large floor to ceiling windows between the cocktail hour and reception spaces. As soon as we saw it we knew it was the venue for us!

What was on your menu?
Our cocktail hour had every food you could possibly imagine! Some of our favorite things were the Thai chili fried calamari, sushi display, slider station, and pub station with a seasonal IPA beer display. During the cocktail hour, attendants from the venue brought us food and drinks. It was great to get a chance to eat and try the food together! For the main course our guests received chateaubriand and herb stuffed chicken with roasted peppers, roasted potatoes, and vegetables. Our cake was a white cake with cannoli and cream cheese filling. We had our florist add succulents and pink and white roses cascading down the tiers.

All about your gown!
I loved everything about my dress! It was an Allure strapless ball gown with a sweetheart neckline, an intricately beaded floral applique belt, and a semi open back with covered buttons. The bottom had ruffled layers of tulle with horsehair trimmed ruffles continuing down to the chapel train. It was the first dress I tried on and the one to beat. The moment I put it on I felt like a princess.

What was your favorite moment?
One of the things I was most excited about was to show Steve my dress, so our first look was definitely one of my favorite moments. It was nice to have time just the two of us before the ceremony and reception started to talk about our mornings and have a private moment. My other favorite moment was reading our own vows to each other. We spent weeks perfecting them and it was special to read them to one another and share our love with those closest to us.

One detail you couldn’t live without?
My something old and borrowed was my grandmother’s wedding band and engagement ring. She has since passed and it was nice to have a special part of her with me on my big day. My older cousin also wore our grandmother’s rings when she got married so it’s our own family tradition. I had five of my younger cousins in my bridal party so it was special to share that with them and for them to see our grandmothers rings and hopefully wear them when they get married. My something blue was a heart cut from a pair of blue shorts my brother wore before he passed away. Being the only, youngest, girl in a set of triplets, I always pictured having my two brothers stand by me as I got married. Having a little piece of him close to me all night was something I couldn’t live without. Unfortunately, my husband also has a brother who has passed away. We had a memory table to remember our brothers, uncles, and close family friend who had passed away too soon.

Any advice for future brides?
Have fun and take time to enjoy a private moment with your husband to appreciate your big day! Don’t stress over the small details and weather, what’s really important is marrying the one you love.

Honeymoon Location
We left for our honeymoon to Thailand shortly after our wedding day and it was so surreal and exciting. We stayed for about two and half weeks. It was the trip of a lifetime! We got to explore the cities, relax on the beaches, meet some elephants, and tour the beautiful islands. A few days before we came home we got an email from our photographer that our pictures were ready! We were sad to leave but excited to get back to see our pictures and relive the best day of our lives!
