Details of the day:
I have to admit that I have had my wedding dress picked out since a very early age. I always dreamed of wearing my mother’s dress because there’s simply no other dress like it. My dream finally became a reality on September 15, 2012.
My husband Lan and I met through a mutual friend while we were both students at different colleges. After almost 10 years together, we celebrated our love for each other and became husband and wife. We brought together our very different families and cultures for one beautiful celebration. We always talked about getting married by a lake, and that’s exactly what we did.
Lake Valhalla Club in Montville, New Jersey, was the perfect setting for our ceremony and reception. My cousin officiated over the ceremony which included a few special traditions to honor my Jewish heritage. The ceremony was followed by a traditional Chinese tea ceremony which was our way of showing our respect and appreciation for our relatives. After the ceremonies, we enjoyed one great party. The food, dancing, and bonfire on the beach made for one incredible, unforgettable night.
My favorite part:
Our wedding was perfect. I can’t possibly pick just one favorite part!
Advice for other brides:
We were engaged for about two years, which seemed like a lot of time at first. But it turned out to be perfect. We had enough time to plan our wedding without the stress of being in a time crunch. I highly recommend taking your time before you walk down that aisle so that you can actually enjoy being engaged!
