Alene and Robert at Natirar

An Autumn Wedding at Natirar - New Jersey Bride
“We had an outdoor ceremony with the gorgeous carriage house restaurant as our backdrop. Wine barrels adorned with beautiful fall foliage and flowers set the stage for our ceremony. The hills surrounding Natirar were covered with trees full of burnt orange, crimson red, yellow and golden leaves. It was mild and a bit misty out which lent the afternoon a magical air and made it a perfect, moody autumn day. There was a bit of a delay with one of the buses bringing guests to Natirar so we made the best of it and our guests mingled and sipped champagne and cocktails while waiting. Our ceremony was led off with my friend Lyle playing the acoustic guitar (“Everlong” – Foo Fighters). Rob’s brother officiated, our mothers each read a favorite poem/passage, and we recited our own vows.”

“My dress was ivory and pretty simple – capped sleeves, a plunging neckline and slight draping down the front. I wore fairly large, oval topaz and diamond earrings. Rob wore a grey pinstripe suit and went tie-less. We were going for understated and comfort! After the ceremony we had cocktails and a generous smattering of hors d’oeuvres followed by a four-course dinner with wine pairings prepared by the talented team at Natirar. The night concluded with a gorgeous dessert table, and my favorite, a decedent array of local and international cheeses, all with dessert wine and port pairings. Guests enjoyed cocktails and cigars by the fire pits on the outside patio area and when we weren’t eating we were dancing to the acoustic band. Our fathers and siblings gave beautiful speeches and toasts throughout the night.”

“We forewent some of the traditional wedding components such as a first dance or cake cutting. We were so happy to be able to have so many of our friends and family to celebrate with us (many of our guests had traveled from Australia, where Rob is from and we live now) that we really wanted our wedding reception to be more of a large dinner party. We wanted to celebrate our love and union sharing some of the things we love and enjoy most…delicious food, wine, good music and our friends and family.”

“Weddings end up becoming a lot more than just about the bride and groom in the lead up so make sure you do what makes you happy and means the most to you on the day. Oh, and wear your shoes a few times to break them in before the day of!”
