How did you meet?
According to Robert: We met in high school. We had freshman bio class together and I looked for any excuse to go over and talk to her. She was way smarter than she gave herself credit for but I was happy to help her study because it meant I got to spend more time with her.

According To Ariel: Our freshman year of high school, Rob and I had biology together. Rob would stroll around the room in his giant basketball shorts and T-shirt (clothes that were too big for people were in style back then). We instantly became friends. Rob wasn’t your typical class clown because he actually got good grades while messing with all the teachers. Science wasn’t my strong suit so Rob would help me study. One of the best memories from freshman year was when I found out I got a B on the final. I saw him in the hallway, ran towards him shouting I passed, and he picked me up and spun me around.

How did you get engaged?
According to Robert: The proposal was a masterpiece of planning and deception. I knew the date of our engagement for over 3 months before it happened. I ring shopped with her best friend, asked her dad for permission, and on the day of, I was able to convince her to go to Central Park – she was completely unaware of what was going to happen. I chose Central Park because it is where we reconnected and would hang out when I moved to NYC. After the proposal, I had our parents meet us at the apartment, then went to our reservation at a restaurant, and finally, surprised her with all of our friends waiting at the bar next door. 2 days later, we left for our vacation to Cancun. Mission accomplished.

According to Ariel: When Rob proposed, he also swept me off my feet. I was clueless. Rob lied and said we had to go to Central Park for one of his Dad’s charity events (Rob’s dad is the mayor of his town). So I get all dressed up, we’re running late, I’m hurrying us along when Rob stops us by the bridge and pops the question. I was stunned! Our parents met us for dinner. We planned to get a drink at the bar next door, and to my surprise, all of our friends were waiting in the back room. It was the best day. Had a couple of cocktails and shouted “WE’RE GETTING MARRIED!” for the rest of the evening.

Details of the day!
We were hoping to have a rustic elegant ambiance, with a wild reception. We love to DANCE! We’ve told our guests that the best chance they have of getting a photo with us is on the dance floor.

Why did you choose your venue?
I love The Ryland Inn because in our minds it’s the perfect combination of elegant and rustic. We fell head over heels for the large patio area that will be used for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and extra space during the reception.
