Details of the day: I wanted to embrace southern elegance in the North! We envisioned classic yet romantic details that we felt would withstand the test of time and “trends”. Dan and I got married in my hometown church which is also where I was baptized.
In the church, I wanted to keep the ceremony and reception romantic with warm lighting and simple details to really embody and not overwhelm the features of the church. We chose simple flower bouquets at the altar and lanterns with lit candles at the aisle base of the pews.
Due to the fact that Dan is stationed in Savannah and we currently live there, we hoped to bring in a touch of southern charm to the North. I choose a simple ivory and lace mermaid gown. I also wore my mother’s veil for “something borrowed”.
I chose to have coral flowers to off-set the navy colored outfits of the bridal party. Attached to my bouquet was my grandfather’s dog tag (“something old”) and a picture of my brother (who is deceased) in a locket. Our praline and vanilla flavored cake was topped with a “Love” cake topper to embody our theme. We were insistent upon the golden glow of the summer sun for our pictures across the green golf course!
