How did you meet?
We’ve always known one another from being in the same Armenian community, but never spoke or crossed paths. In early 2015, we both ended up last minute attending an Armenian event in Boston, known as NATs (National Athletic Tournament) with our friends. We formally met and instantly clicked that weekend! We started officially dating a month later and the rest is…history! We’ve been inseparable since.

How did you get engaged?
We got engaged in Central Park by Bow’s Bridge on September 22, 2019. Raffi had his sister and cousins set up a cute picnic under a tree near the bridge. He told me we were going to Central Park to have a picnic, I didn’t find it too suspicious because we always did things like that. When we got there, I saw the setup and was so excited! He also hired a professional photographer that was able to capture the special moment for both of us. We spent a few hours there just us two and later met up with both of our families for dinner at Cornetta’s Restaurant in Piermont, NY.

Details of the day!
I always knew exactly how I wanted my wedding to look and feel, which made the planning process so easy and fun! I chose white, blush, and hints of silver for our colors. I wanted elegant, romantic, and whimsical at the same time. My bridesmaids wore blush and the groomsman wore classic black. Our wedding invitations were beautifully made by Creationari. I wanted something memorable and elegant and that’s exactly what we created! Wedded Events did an amazing job with church decor and venue decor. It was like a dream and everything I hoped for with flowers galore! The white floor wrap by Go To Shout with our silver foiled monogram (our monogram was featured in various other places throughout the wedding like our invitations, wax seals, on the cake, menu & ice sculpture, etc.) was the icing on the cake that really tied the room together and made it super intimate and lux. Our cake was stunning and double my height by A Little Cake with fresh flowers between each tier by Wedded Events. My favorite part was our incredible sweetheart table set on a platform with an abundance of white and blush flowers cascading all around and romantic burning candles and chandeliers. My bouquet was perfectly put together with my favorite flowers, peonies. The centerpieces for each table were grand, with a plethora of flowers that had hanging white roses and floral wrapped candelabras, which added to the overall feel. It was our own fairytale and my dream ambiance!

Why did you choose your venue?
We’ve both always mutually loved The Rockleigh for its circular dance floor, romantic vibes, and intimate feel while still being grand and luxurious. I’ve always envisioned my wedding to be at The Rockleigh and Raffi felt the same, too. We couldn’t be happier with choosing them because everyone went above and beyond to make our day truly magical!

All about your gown!
My custom wedding dress was the dress of my dreams! It’s everything I’ve always pictured with a cathedral-length train and matching veil. The dress had the most beautiful and delicate detailing throughout with butterflies as well. And of course…lots of Swarovski crystals and shimmering! My headpiece by Bridal Styles Boutique was one of my favorite things, also covered in Swarovski crystals, it complimented the shimmering of my dress perfectly.

What was your favorite moment?
The entire day itself was my favorite moment! But looking back and having to select a few, I really loved the car ride to the venue with Raffi after we had just been married at the church. It was special and filled with happy tears and a moment we’ll never forget. We also will never forget walking into the reception before anyone else to have a first look at our incredible decor. Nada and the team at Wedded Events went above and beyond and everything was so beautifully executed! It was such an amazing feeling to see our vision come to life.

One detail you couldn’t live without?
One small detail I couldn’t live without was having two small photo charms of my grandpas on my wedding bouquet. I miss them every day and having them a part of my day in a small way was very special to me. I also made a custom pin for Raffi that had a photo of his grandfather who had passed away in September of 2020 due to Covid, just a few months before our postponed date. It was special to include him as part of the day for Raffi!

Did anything go wrong?
On the actual day, thankfully, nothing went wrong that we’re aware of. However, due to Covid, we had to postpone our wedding a few months out and it honestly worked for the better! We went from September 2020 to June 2021.

First dance song?
Besame Mucho by Andrea Bocelli – our favorite song.

Any advice for future brides?
Have fun with the process! You’ll only really get to do this once and it’s your big day. Do not think about what will impress or please other people and do what YOU want. Also, let go the day of the wedding and completely be in the moment. The details will fall into place, the pictures will be taken and the most important thing…you’ll be married!

Honeymoon Location
We went to Greece, specifically Mykonos, Santorini and Athens. We went for two weeks and it was truly magical! We had an amazing time. It was so nice to sit back and enjoy ourselves after dealing with all of the stress and added Covid postponement stress.
