How did you meet?
We met at Park Tavern after the Jersey City St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

How did you get engaged?
John knows how much I love the beach so he took me to Point Pleasant for lunch. We took a walk afterward and he started trailing behind. When I turned around and saw him down on one knee I actually thought he’d fallen! It took me a second to realize what was happening but once I did I didn’t hesitate to say “YES!”

Details of the day!
Our wedding was the first time many people had seen each other in person since COVID began so there was an added excitement to the day. Our original wedding date was October 9th which meant I had picked out dark jewel tones for dresses and flowers. When we postponed to June, I still wanted to keep the richness of the jewel tones, and Laura from A Touch of Elegance knocked it out of the park! The bouquets for my bridesmaids and me looked amazing. In terms of centerpieces, we went with flowers and floating candles of varying sizes to mimic the NYC skyline. Simply put, it was a beautiful day in a beautiful place with our closest family and friends.

Why did you choose your venue?
Living in Jersey City, we have enjoyed going to Liberty House Restaurant and have also attended various functions there. We were consistently impressed with the quality of the food and service. When combined with the incredible views, there was no question where we wanted to have our wedding.

What was on your menu?
Cocktail hour consisted of passed and plated hors d’oeuvres as well as multiple food stations. Guests especially loved the American Classics station that included sliders, fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, and french fries. Our signature cocktails were Tito’s Vodka & Club Soda with Lemon & Lime and Lemon Drop Martinis. Dinner was a choice of filet mignon or pan-seared cod and dessert choices were assorted sweets and donuts. Our wedding cake flavors were chocolate raspberry truffle and lemon.

All about your gown!
The moment I tried on the Martina Liana 1165 gown I knew it was the one for me. The silhouette and beading were exactly what I had been looking for, but the crepe fabric added so much elegance. The scalloped train with floral appliques was gorgeous and when we added the veil it was absolutely breathtaking. I loved everything about the dress and was able to move and dance comfortably all day and night.

What was your favorite moment?
My favorite moment was peeking into the reception space and seeing how beautifully everything came together.

One detail you couldn’t live without?
Our dog Duncan had to be an important part of the day so we found ways to represent him throughout the reception. We named a signature cocktail after him and even had favors for guests to take home to their pups.

Did anything go wrong?
I’m not aware of anything going wrong, which is a testament to how great all of our vendors were.

First dance song?
The Way You Look Tonight, Frank Sinatra

Any advice for future brides?
Take the time to enjoy every second of your day because it goes by so fast!

Honeymoon Location
We went to Key West before the wedding. It turned out to be a much-needed break from planning.
