Alyssa and Michael at Mountain Creek

Posted on December 10, 2020 by Ariana Baio

We met during summer 2011, through mutual friends. We spent a lot of time hanging out with friends, which gradually led to the two of us hanging by ourselves. Michael offered to take me to a movie one night and that’s when we decided to see where this would take us.

Michael planned a snowboarding trip on a long weekend with our friends at Jay Peak, VT. He booked an awesome bed & breakfast down the street from the mountain. He is friendly with everyone and mentioned he was meeting up with a local to show us some hidden trails. We took the lift up, and slowly made our way down to some spots off trail in the trees. His friends were showing some trails that we can take before I got led into a path lined with rose petals and Michael getting on his knee. He asked if I would adventure with him forever with a ring in hand. I quickly grabbed the ring put it on my finger and said “yes” over, and over again. The local that we met up with, ended up being a photographer and got photos of the day!

Our day was filled with neutral colors, lots of greenery, some ivory and dusty blue. We used a lot of eucalyptus to enhance the natural beauty of our venue.

We love snowboarding! It is one of our favorite hobbies. We loved the idea of our family and friends getting a chance to go up a gondola as many have never have had the experience.

We had filet mignon with a Zinfandel reduction shallot truffle butter, roasted lemon herb chicken with roasted garlic beurre blanc, and cilantro-crusted red snapper with avocado corn relish. Our cake was a chocolate and vanilla layered cake with  cannoli cream, chocolate mousse and buttercream icing with a chocolate ganache.

My dress was a mix between an A-line and mermaid. I wanted it to fit my waist but not be too puffy or too tight on the hips. I tried on multiple dresses, but the dress I picked made me feel like a bride.

I have so many favorite moments! Getting ready with the moms, the sun coming out a half hour before the ceremony (it was raining all day leading up to it), standing at the alter with my husband at the top of the mountain, having my father sing to me while we did our father-daughter dance, and the delicious food and cake. Ultimately, being able to have our wedding date on our original date despite the crazy year of Covid. Our guests were thrilled to feel some sort of normalcy and it was amazing to have that feeling.

Getting married at the top of the mountain. That was a big detail for me and couldn’t have imagined it any other way.

The seating chart. We duplicated names under two different tables, leaving some people not knowing where they sit.

Live in the moment. Do not worry about what you could’ve done or what needs to get done, just embrace and enjoy every single moment.
