How they met: High school friends who circled back to their hometown at the onset of their careers & quickly fell for each other.
The proposal: While away for Greg’s birthday trip he flipped the weekend script and turned it into a proposal & celebration! Greg proposed whilst strolling the Tidal Basin after dinner. DC is our favorite US city to visit and will now be a special place forever.
Details of the day: We quickly chose the Ryland Inn as it perfectly exemplifies Greg and my taste (traditional & elegant with a modern flair). We wanted our venue to remind our guests of us & the Ryland did just that. We also chose NJ being we were both born & raised here. We saw June as the perfect month for us to get married outside. The theme was classic, clean & romantic: ‘all neutrals’ — whites, off-whites, greenery etc. We wanted something that would stand the test of time and never be looked back upon with (too much of) a laugh.
The menu: Farm-to-table – we wanted our guests to enjoy a true American fine-dining experience with fresh foods from NJ.
Favorite moment: Alex: Walking down the aisle with my father and turning the corner to fine Greg wide-eyed staring back at me. Greg: Seeing the gate open and Alex approaching as my bride for the first time.
Couldn’t live without: Greg: Spending time together after the ceremony and before the reception; having some alone time to catch our breaths and steal a quick drink. Alex: Our first dance, just Greg & I surrounded by all of our family & closest friends; felt like the luckiest girl in the world.
Favorite detail: Greg: the energy & anticipation the Frank Simmons band added to the bridal party introductions. Alex: The amazing flowers; our florist really exceeded my expectations & had my vision come to life in the perfect way.
