Katie and Chris got married on June 7, 2025 at The Mansion at Mountain Lakes.

Their Story

It was a sunny Friday in April. When Katie and Chris woke up that morning, neither had a clue that would be the day of their first date. They both went about their days until mid-afternoon when Katie boldly asked Chris his plans for the evening. He was surprised at first, but then swiftly agreed.

After the work day was over, they exchanged numbers and decided to meet later that night in Morristown. Chris was naturally 20 minutes late, but after parking, he gave Katie a call. She was very impressed he was not timid.

They met on the corner by Starbucks, and as they drew near they both had smiles on their faces—relieved that the other matched pictures from their profile. From there they shared laughs over a few cocktails.

After that they didn’t want the night to end, so they went to another bar and then the world-famous Grilled Cheese off the Green. At 1:00 a.m. they finally had to part ways, but not before Chris could ask for a kiss goodbye.

It was not long after they knew!

The Proposal

They got engaged October 2023 at Natirar Park in Peapack-Gladstone.

“Chris set up a very sweet picnic with photos and flowers by the river,” says Katie. He spent a few weeks scouting the perfect spot with Katie’s bff, Hope. Once he found this spot off the main trail, he knew.

“Chris also made sure to include the bridge behind us—because they are good luck according to his Mom,” says Katie.

Choosing the Venue

“We both loved a classic look with lots of space,” says Katie. “It was not only all the amazing details and finishes in the Mansion at Mountain Lakes, but the staff.”

“There is no one quite like Jim, he kept us cool and calm through the whole process and made us feel like family.”

“By the time wedding no day came and we met the rest of the day-of staff, we were even more at ease. We now wish we could go back to a wedding there as guests!”

Details of the Day

Katie loves a very classic, Southern charm style for weddings.

“So we kept it seasonally appropriate with lots of whites and cream and a pop of pale blue,” she says.

Incorporating Katie’s favorite hydrangeas into the mix wherever they could. “The ballroom was absolutely perfect on its own, but the flowers really brought something special.”

“The real show stopper for us was our seating chart,” adds Katie. “We made it with old doors from the house we had just purchased together. And the stately oyster cards were hand painted by one of the bridesmaids to bring an original touch.”

“Everyone raved about the food,” says Katie. “It was all so delicious.”

“Our guest book was a record with our first dance song. We chose a ‘Your Song’ by Elton John because he was the first concert we attended together.”

Favorite Moment

“Our favorite moment was the first look—finally getting to see each other after the anticipation was built up all day long.”

Chris cried, which was one of the sweetest moments for Katie.

“Also of course seeing a year long vision come to life. It was just truly an amazing celebration.”

Wedding Day Attire

The bride wore the Delancey gown by Élysée. It was purchased at I Do…I Do in Morristown. The highlihgt was a custom made giant bow in the back, which the bridal salon’s seamstress worked on this with Katie during many appts.

The men and groom wore Vera Wang tuxes from Men’s Wearhouse. The bridesmaids purchased matching dresses in navy from Azazie.

Advice For Other Couples

“People say the day goes by fast, but you don’t realize until you’re in it,” says Katie. “Take a moment at dinner to look around the room together and really feel the love before the party starts.”

Honeymoon

“Our honeymoon was not extravagant or international. “The Monday following our wedding we escaped to our favorite place, Long Beach Island,” says Katie.

“We spent a week at a house on the bay where we watched the sunset in the roof each night, kayaked in the morning, and walked to the beach every afternoon.”

“We had an amazing dinner at The Gables one night which is a dinner we still talk about to this day! It was so relaxing and familiar in the best way. The recharge we needed after all the hustle and bustle of planning.”
