A Glamorous Big Day at This Couple’s “Dream Venue”

Jacqueline and Grant got married at Shadowbrook at Shrewsbury on October 6, 2024.

Their Story 

It all began with their first date at Kinchley’s Tavern.

“Grant knew that I loved pizza,” says Jacqueline, “so he is the one who planned to have our first date there with that in mind. When we sat to eat, Grant didn’t know at the time, but I love to eat. I can eat an entire large pie myself, but I didn’t tell him that (just yet).”

They wound up having some drinks and splitting a pie that they didn’t even finish. They talked for over four hours and closed down the place on a Monday night.

“We knew from that day on that there was something special between us.”

The next time we went there to eat, they both ordered a pie each and finished everything!

The Proposal

Grant and Jacqueline love the fall season, so in late September of 2022 he told her that he made plans for them to go apple picking and to the cidery afterward.

He proposed to at Pennings Orchard, where they had shared one of their first dates together and it’s a place they love going to every year.

“He even hired a photographer to capture the moment and to take engagement photos that we will cherish forever!”

Details of the Day

They describe their wedding theme as “glamorous traditional” as the bride wanted, “to emphasis the decor of Shadowbrook as the venue has a lot of Great Gatsby vibes to it.”

Their color palette focused on champagne, gold, ivory, white and black.

“I also had our florist include a touch of blush roses to bring some color to my bouquet and to the ceremony space and reception space,” says Jacqueline.

The bridesmaids were dressed in a champagne/cashmere dress with an ivory, rhinestone belt to make the dress have a touch of sparkle.

The groomsmen were dressed in traditional tuxedos for their black-tie request.

Their signature drinks were “one of the best details about our wedding because every guest enjoyed them,” says the bride. “We, including many of our guests, had our signature drinks the entire night of our wedding and I think that it is an important detail to making a great wedding.” They had four signature drinks to choose from, two of which were named after our dogs: hers – Mojito, his – Swift Kick, Mia’s Mai Tai, Orion’s Espresso Martini.

Choosing the Venue 

They chose the Shadowbrook at Shrewsbury as their venue because the couple grew up attending events at Seasons and The Venetian, which are Shadowbrook’s other venues.

“The service, attention to detail, and the food is unmatched to any other venue we have ever attended,” says Jacqueline. “It was not a question of if we would get married at Shadowbrook, it was a question of when.”

Favorite Moment 

“Our favorite moment was when we were sitting at our sweetheart table and took a minute to take in that the entire day was dedicated to us and our love,” says Jacqueline. “We looked around the room together and felt so happy that all of our favorite people were there to celebrate us!”

Detail They Couldn’t Live Without

“Having a content creator at our wedding was one of the best decisions we could have made,” says Jacqueline. “We received so many photos and videos the day after our wedding that were amazing quality.”

“We were able to relive our wedding through the videos and have behind-the-scenes memories that we may not have been paying attention to the day of the wedding. It was also so nice to be able to share these photos and videos with our family and guests.”

Advice for Other Couples 

“Take moments throughout your day to soak it all in and be present in it all. ”

“Things may come up that you thought would have bothered you, but on that day nothing will matter because you are marrying the love of your life.”

Honeymoon

They stayed at Sandals Curacao for five nights to relax and unwind.

“The resort is new, very clean, and the service is exceptional,” says Jacqueline. “The food and drinks were incredible as well! We are planning to travel to Greece and Italy this summer as our big honeymoon trip!”
