On a hilltop in Totowa, New Jersey, before it was an event venue, the previous owner was quite the collector; he salvaged hospital columns, transit-hall ironwork, even World's-Fair stone, weaving them into headquarters. Decades later, we kept the soul, added the comforts and opened it to celebrations and gatherings. We called it The Chariot. The moment you pass the gates, history meets you with pier chains from the Hudson that were worked into the landscape, Barnert Hospital marble at the threshold, and a reclaimed iron door from the Paramount Theatre. It's clear to anyone who catches even just a glimpse of its bright gold-accented facade behind the black and gold wrought iron fence, that years and millions of dollars have been invested in the facility.
