1. Sorrento, Italy

What It’s Like: Sorrento is giving coastal-core vibes. With stunning waterfront views and the opportunity for a boating experience (or two!), this town is full of ways to enjoy the water. Sorrento is a central hub for Amalfi Coast exploration so it’s easy to hop around to other beautiful spots like Positano, Ravello, and Taormina in Sicily.
Where to Stay: The waterfront Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria, which sits on the coast of the Gulf of Naples, is the ultimate romantic accommodation.
What To Do: Sorrento is your gateway to all the fun things in the Amalfi Coast region. Easily take a ferry to Positano. A boat tour over to Capri is a must. Plus, there’s a wide selection of delicious dining options. A fave local spot is La Lanterna for, what else, pizza, seafood, pasta and wine.
Vicki’s Pro Tip: The best time to travel to Sorrento is May, June or September/early-October for ideal weather and fewer crowds. Plus, overall, this destination is more affordable than neighboring Positano.
2. Florence and Tuscany, Italy

What It’s Like: Every moment in this Northern Italy region is Instagram gold. You’re in for beautiful landscapes, amazing dining options and fewer tourists. Picture this: holding hands on a walking tour, going on wine tastings and cooking classes galore, and visiting museums and cultural spots.
Where To Stay: You can’t go wrong with a room at the beautiful Hotel Le Fonatanelle in the heart of the Chianti region.
What To Do: Book a private wine tasting in the medieval Chianti vineyards or enjoy a sunset dinner overlooking rolling vineyard landscapes. Explore charming Tuscan hill towns together or take a romantic walk across the historic and picturesque Ponte Vecchio bridge. Dive into the culture with a private art tour of the Uffizi Galleries, famous worldwide for its collections of ancient sculptures and paintings. Marvel at the sunset views from Piazzale Michelangelo in Florence.
Vicki’s Pro Tip: Travel with comfortable walking shoes and pack lightweight, stylish layers. The best months to visit this region are April-June and September-October.
3. Portugal

What It’s Like: The food and wine scene is unmatched in Portugal, and you’ll lose yourself in the culture in the best way possible. Foodies, history buffs, adventurers and culture enthusiasts will love the variety of activities that Portugal has to offer, from castle tours, cave explorations and mountain biking to wine tastings and cooking classes.
Where To Stay: The One Palácio da Anunciada in Lisbon, Portugal’s capital city, is housed in a 16th-century palace. History you can actually touch!
What To Do: The perfect Portugal itinerary for you could feature a romantic private beach experience, a visit to the historic riverside district along with a river cruise, gourmet meals, an intimate wine tasting for two, a drink at a rooftop bar with stunning city views and a sunset sail. One must-visit attraction is the magical Pena Palace in Sintra.
Vicki’s Pro Tip: Portugal can be a more economical destination compared to other destinations on this list. Plus, since this country is on the smaller side, you can enjoy it with a shorter travel window.
4. Switzerland

What It’s Like: Switzerland is world-renowned for its cheese and chocolate—do we need to say more? Plus, the magical mountains will break your camera roll.
Where To Stay: Grand Hotel Zermatterhof offers views of the Matterhorn, an amazing peak within the Alps. Hands down, this is the spot to stay.
What To Do: Adventure lovers who want to experience unique outdoor fun will love this honeymoon spot. Take a sunset cruise on Lake Lucerne with mountain panoramas or ride the breathtaking Jungfraujoch “Top of Europe” railway together. Explore charming old town streets, experience the sophisticated alpine charm of St Moritz, indulge in all the chocolate, and take a riverside walk in Zurich, Switzerland’s largest city.
Vicki’s Pro Tip: You need to ride the Glacier Express from St. Moritz to Zermatt. This eight-hour trip passes through three spectacular alpine regions where you’ll be in awe over the picturesque Swiss countryside and stunning mountain villages.
5. Greece

What It’s Like: Live out your Mamma Mia dreams as you island hop around Greece with your new spouse. Balance romance and adventure with unforgettable culinary experiences and scenic boat rides.
Where To Stay: Book the Santo Pre Oia Suites and Villas for a romantic getaway in Santorini.
What To Do: In Santorini, you’ll take in breathtaking caldera views and stunning white-washed buildings. A wine tour is a must. For an exciting night out, hit a trendy beach club in Mykonos. Plan a stay in Paros for an authentic Greek experience and quieter beaches. Don’t skip a visit to the island of Crete for its exceptional food scene and ancient sites.
Vicki’s Pro Tip: Greece is a seasonal destination so many of the hotels and restaurants will start to close down at the end of October. But a stay for 10-14 days in June-September is worth it.
