As with everything else, today’s brides have innumerable choices, from flats and flip-flops to stilettos and platforms. And brides are making the most of those choices.
According to Lori Dunn, owner of Model Bride in Chatham (973-635-1756; modelbride.com), brides have started using shoes as more of a fashion statement than as something to be hidden from view. Even if you have a very traditional dress, footwear is a great place to bring in a little more fun and personality. At Model Bride, the peep-toe and T-strap are both still very popular with brides, and shoes with crystals or other bling are a perennial favorite.
In what could be a sign of the financial times, Dunn has seen many women choosing shoes they can use after the big day. “Lots of brides are leaning toward silver or champagne instead of white, so they can wear them again later,” Dunn said. Several brides have recently chosen shoes to use as their “something blue,” as well, according to Dunn. Even if you are the only one who sees your shoes that day, why not make them as special as the rest of your wedding?
