She and Travis met in college and dated for seven years before marrying on September 26, 2009. Travis, from Upper Bucks County, Pennsylvania, works for Zaveta Custom Homes, his family’s business, and the couple’s ceremony was hosted at his family’s farm residence near the picturesque Delaware River.
The bridal party made its grand entrance through a 150-year-old weeping beech tree that had been tied back to create an “aisle.” The bride wore Badgley Mischka, accompanied by a short fur shrug acquired on a European holiday. In keeping with her butterscotch-and-chocolate wedding theme, maids’ dresses were fun and flirty in Priscilla of Boston’s tiramisu hue. Hand-tied bouquets included white dahlias and hydrangea, sand-colored roses, magnolia leaves, and antique green hydrangea with a burgundy edge.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed harp music on an upper terrace with a full cocktail hour and fresh-pressed apple cider. The couple selected the historic Prallsville Mills in Stockton because “its old farm-style feel with a silo, interior stone walls, and a water wheel was the perfect blank canvas for our rustic-chic vision,” says Jill. She arranged the tables family-style to feel like an intimate dinner party, and brought in Japanese maples decorated with three thousand white lights.
The nontraditional hors d’oeuvres and buffet menu included pomegranate margaritas and apple mojitos accompanied by salmon mango skewers, mini pulled pork on biscuits, and mini chicken mole tacos. Buffet stations offered applewood-smoked beef brisket, cilantro-lime tilapia, and a macaroni-and-cheese bar with toppings. A simple cake was adorned with burgundy dahlias, and a full dessert bar featured banana pudding shots, apple-cider donuts, fresh berries with chocolate dipping sauce, and an elaborate cappuccino and espresso bar.
Jill’s advice for the perfect wedding? “Pick your budget battles and negotiate—but splurge on what really matters to you,” she says. “We spent more on catering, and chose a deejay rather than a band. Be sure to soak in every minute—it was one of the most fun and amazing experiences of our lives.” After a honeymoon to the Greek islands, they’re at home in Upper Black Eddy, Pennsylvania.
