Bouquet of Roses

Roses are ageless and beloved. From the first time you were surprised with a bouquet, sent yellow ones to a friend, or carried a posy of white stems, this flower has always been fitting—and it’s especially appropriate for weddings. The rose dates back to the end of the eighteenth century, yet it still remains relevant.

According to Manuel Santos of Santos Florist in Newark, roses are a reliable choice: “It’s a safe flower that people can associate and be comfortable with.” Santos, whose florist company averages 100 weddings annually, says they get requests for every type of rose, which he attributes to the romance they add. But Brandon Hamm of Passion Growers, a rose grower/provider based in Miami, says it’s a matter of diversity.

“Just like people, no two rose varieties are ever completely alike. Each and every rose is a unique, individual experience.” The company has been featured on the hit shows My Fair Wedding and Four Weddings. “Weddings and roses are a couple meant to stand the test of time,” says Hamm.
