Vera Wang

It’s safe to say that Vera Wang has cornered the market on weddings. She’s not only cornered it, but continues to successfully re-create it. From gowns that set the bar in their design and simplicity—white, black, color, high-end, celebrity and for the masses—to the rest of her wedding empire, which is made up of perfume, shoes, eyewear, stationery, china, bags, invitations, jewelry, bridesmaid dresses, china, and even mattresses, there are very few areas without her signature mark (limousines and band equipment, perhaps?)

Vera truly revolutionized the bridal industry in 1990 when she introduced high-fashion and couture designs to the bridal category of fashion, which until then had been reserved for mass- and middle-market designers. Suddenly it was au courant to be designing for brides. Vera opened the door for all of the great designers who are currently working with lace and tulle.

Yet somehow through the years, she’s consistently set the bar for what's hip and elegant in the bridal world. She’s also managed to stay relevant in these economic times by launching her White by Vera Wang line at David’s Bridal, yet another genius move, enabling those who can’t afford a $10,000 gown to still wear Vera Wang. She turned heads again last October with her black gowns during Bridal Fashion Week. Vera is never afraid to push the boundaries and think outside of the typical wedding box, which is what keeps us coming back for more, mesmerizing brides every step of the way.
