Susan Savini Weds Antonio Padron

It was music that brought them together. Fellow music teachers Susan Savini and Antonio “Tony” Padron were in Europe during the summer of 2004 performing in a ten-day youth orchestra when they met. One bus ride to Prague, the second leg of their trip, and they were in love. Four years later, they were engaged. Tony, of Mount Holly, knew that Susan, a native of West Chester, Pennsylvania, wanted a proposal in front of their loved ones, and he gave her just that with a surprise party the day after her birthday.

With their wedding planned with the help of Kendall Brown and Leila Miller of Eclatante Design in Philadelphia, the two, who love being by the beach, were married at the Mallard Island Yacht Club on Long Beach Island on July 24, 2010.

The bride wore a strapless Vera Wang gown and Jimmy Choo shoes for the non-denominational ceremony. She carried a floral arrangement of deep-purple lisianthus, purple agapanthus, blue delphinium, purple trachelium, and blue globe thistle. The bridal party wore silk halter dresses by BCBG, and the groomsmen donned Calvin Klein. All had purple and blue hues incorporated into their attire.

There were tears from just about everyone except for the couple, including both sets of parents and a few groomsmen. “Tony remembers standing at the end of the aisle waiting for me and all he could hear was the string quartet and my bridesmaids crying,” Susan says.

For the reception, Susan changed into a white, knee-length Michelle Rahn dress and another pair of designer heels. The couple’s first dance made for Tony’s favorite part. They agreed on “Everything” by Michael Bublé for the moment, and were surrounded by their friends and family, who danced alongside them. “We love the upbeat feel of the song, and the lyrics completely represent us as a couple,” says Susan. In keeping with their musical backgrounds, Susan’s father played a guitar piece for the couple after he gave his speech, and Tony performed Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer” on the drums with the live band.

Their cake, made by Carlo’s City Hall Bake Shop in Hoboken, was designed as a cityscape of Prague and paid homage to the city that brought them together. And the groom’s cake was in the shape of a drum.

Their favors were musical-note ornaments along with a donation made to Musicopia, a nonprofit organization that provides music enrichment programs to schools and communities throughout the Delaware Valley.
