Life, especially when you are in the middle of planning one of the biggest days of your life, takes energy. And while it may seem impossible to fit one more thing into your hectic schedule, making room for exercise can be one of the best pre-wedding decisions you’ll make.

Not only will it help reduce your stress level and improve your mood, it will help you look even better in that perfect dress.

Just as in marriage, balance is important in a successful workout. Bill Parisi, owner of Parisi Sports Clubs in Wyckoff, Midland Park, Fair Lawn, and Morris Plains, suggests combining cardio and strength training to get the most out of your workout time.

“A lot of women are worried about strength-training making them look like female bodybuilders,” says Parisi. “But that’s just not going to happen with normal workouts.” Start with 20 to 30 minutes of cardio, followed by a few minutes of stretching. Then, once your muscles are warmed up, move on to 30 minutes of strength training.

According to Parisi, three to five hour-long workouts per week should help you see a difference in your fitness level and the way your clothes fit. And that doesn’t necessarily mean long sweat sessions in the gym. “A gym and trainer can help provide creativity and support for your workout,” says Parisi. “But you can get good results working out at home, too. And remember, workouts should be fun.”

So why not gather your bridesmaids for an early-morning walk a few days a week? Or meet your fiance after work for a swim, some weight training, and a light dinner. (But talk about something other than the wedding!)

Another important factor is hydration. “Without proper hydration you can’t metabolize fat as effectively,” says Parisi, “and most people aren’t drinking enough.” He suggests dividing your weight (in pounds) in half.

That number (in ounces) is roughly how much water your body needs each day. And what about nutrition? Parisi says you should strive for balance to help make sure your body is getting what it needs. His motto? “Eat breakfast like a queen, lunch like a princess, and dinner like a peasant.” Just be sure to save room for a few bites of wedding cake.

You have a very "cookie cutter" approach! I got lost in a group that all did the same thing every workout and not very sports specific.

horrible gym! horrible management! my wife signed up for a year membership and shortly after became sick and was hospistalized and was unable to go back as per her doctors orders, they didnt want to hear it and would not let her cancel her membership and called a collection agency on her. These are some of the most heartless people i have ever encountered. She ended up paying $800 to settle the dispute, $800 and we recieved nothing in return they wouldnt even let me take over her membership and she never even used the gym! if anyone lives in the morris plains area i would suggest going anywhere else. These people are horrible from the girl who answers the phone to the manager!!!!!!
