When it comes to weddings in Cape May, Congress Hall is the centerpiece of this romantic Victorian resort.

This oceanside property, which recently completed a $25 million renovation restoring it to its former grandeur, handles more than 75 weddings a year, and offers a range of options to enchant any couple.

“With 106 rooms, a ballroom that can seat up to 300, gourmet catering, an on-site event planner, the Cape May Day Spa, and a staff committed to making that special day even more special, we are unique in Cape May,” says Patrick Logue, director of sales and marketing.

The beauty and serenity of Cape May alone allows for a truly memorable event. “I’ve arranged weddings on the beach at sunrise, couples arriving at Congress Hall by horse and carriage, brides in period Victorian wedding gowns, twilight ceremonies on the lawn, and even Mummers-themed spectaculars that result in once-in-a-lifetime experiences for each and every couple,” says Julie Yeager, weddings and social events manager. And with each wedding package comes an oceanview room for the bride and groom.

For couples who prefer a more intimate setting, the Virginia Hotel, a 24-room sister property located just two blocks away, provides the perfect alternative. You can even reserve the entire facility for your wedding party and immediate family, affording the ultimate in personal luxury, convenience, and service. CH Bride When in the off season did you get married at Congress Hall?

  • Total Flex!

I feel for MK, but had a completely opposite experience. The staff at CH was more than willing to make ammendements to their packages, adding and eliminating items until we had a wedding that fit our - unflexible! - budget as well as tastes and style. Our guests did get discounts (not huge, but more if staying the weekend rather than one night) and the entire team could not have been more accommodating. We did get married in the off-season, so perhaps that was the difference...but we had the place to ourselves and it was completely and totally worth it!

  • Gorgeous - but no flexibility

I recently visited Congress Hall and it was gorgeous. The property was full of charm and very unique, but when we sat down to negotiate, management offered very little flexibility, even with our guest list of 250 (the venue's max). They were not willing to make any amendments to the package offerings and would not offer current 2011 rates, even when booking nearly 2 years in advance. To top it off, the hotel does not offer any discounts on room rates for guest room blocks. Congress Hall is a personal venue, but if you are looking for personalized service, you won't find it here.
