One of the most beautiful beaches on which you'd ever lounge.

When I first got married, I enviously eyed a travel magazine’s top-ten list of luxury resorts in the Caribbean, hoping that I would some day have the great fortune to walk on the white-sand beaches and sleep in the thousand-count sheets at this elite group of high-end hotels.

Well, spoiled girl that I am, over the years I’ve talked my husband into a long weekend at Caneel Bay on St. John, delighted in a spa treatment at Sandy Lane on Barbados, lounged on the beach at Virgin Gorda’s Little Dix Bay, attended a wedding weekend at the Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas, and celebrated my birthday at the Four Seasons Resort, Nevis.

Still, Cap Juluca on the British West Indies island of Anguilla (pronounced “an-gwee-la”) remained elusive. This Caribbean playground for the wealthy, where celebrities anchor their custom yachts, just never seemed to work its way into our vacation plans. When I heard that with $28 million in “improvements” Cap Juluca was now better than before, I could no longer put off the inevitable. I just had to go and see if this idealized resort was truly as good as I had envisioned.

And I can honestly say that while I love the aforementioned treasures in the sand, Cap Juluca has stolen my heart and won the title of my “Favorite Honeymoon Spot.”

Perhaps it’s the arrival via ferry boat from St. Maarten to this serene island known for its divine beaches that instantly calms and soothes. Or maybe it’s the private breakfasts each morning on your oceanfront terrace. Or the postcard-perfect two-mile beach where you’re served frozen fruit, ice cream, and cold drinks throughout the sun-bathing day. Or the four-to-one staff-to-guest ratio that makes you feel pampered like never before. Or just the simple mesmerizing lap of the waves.

Cap Juluca truly feels like your own private, romantic getaway. The whitewashed Moorish arches and architecture are the perfect complement to the crystal-clear blue waters, as lanterns, furnishings, and décor straight from Morocco adorn the common areas, lounges, and guest rooms. From your first step into the gorgeous domed open-air lobby, you’ll think you’ve arrived at some desert paradise, but it’s so much better here.

Golf is another attraction now that the resort has taken over the management of the Greg Norman Temenos Golf Course. And if you don’t feel like playing an entire eighteen holes, you can work on your game at the aqua golf driving range.

Best place on earth! We went there for our honeymoon in February followed by a week in St. Barths. Cap Juluca is simply the best! Amazing accommodations, fabulous staff and service, and the beaches are sick!
