Tiffany Rings

True, diamonds are a girl’s best friend. But, as we lucky girls know, you can have lots of best friends! In fact, we’re opting for other precious stones and colored diamonds like never before. Sapphires are the most popular non-diamond engagement stone, followed by emeralds, pink diamonds, then yellow diamonds. The most popular styles feature a colored stone flanked by smaller colorless diamonds.

Though Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez did not survive as a couple, J. Lo’s 6.1-carat pink diamond solitaire sparkler put colored gemstone engagement rings on the map, and rightly so. Their brilliant hues can speak volumes about a couple’s special history and unique vibe. Colored diamonds, like the pink ones above from Tiffany & Co., along with yellow, green, and blue are quite unusual, as they are the happy result of a rare chemical anomaly at the time of the crystal’s growth. Another popular trend is “band collecting”: Start with a diamond band as your engagement ring, then add thin colored stone bands to mark meaningful milestones (a pink diamond or sapphire band to celebrate a baby; or a ruby-and-diamond band as an anniversary gift). It does take some confidence to break the mold and opt for color, so make sure you are 100 percent positive about your choice and that your fiancé agrees with the statement that your particular stone is making. Whatever your choice, wear your colored ring with pride—and get ready to be complimented by everyone you see!

My engagement ring is a 2.2 carat cushion-cut yellow diamond in a platinum pave setting. I get complimented all day long! And since the ring is platinum and yellow, I don't have to worry about wearing white or yellow gold. Anything goes!
