Sunbathing reverses the results of all facials and skin regimes, so avoid it at all costs. Instead, opt for spray tanning, which gives the same bronze glow without all the adverse affects of the sun.

According to every professional we interviewed, following a regular skincare regime is the key for beautiful skin. Try products with retinol, glycolic acid, and exfoliates. And don’t start the program two weeks before the wedding day. “You should give a new skincare regime at least two months before seeing results,” says Isaac Starker, M.D, a plastic surgeon with the Peer Group in Florham Park.

If you’re planning an outside wedding, remember to apply sunblock before walking down the aisle. Valmont offers a great facial moisturizer, Time Perfection, with a 40 SPF. The lotion features DNA and RNA, which helps repair and moisturize skin, and it’s also tinted to even out skin complexion.

For brides planning to do their own makeup, consider taking makeup classes at your local spa. The Spa at Hilton Short Hills offers one-on-one training ($95 per hour) on how to apply makeup and tricks to looking your best.

If acne scars, oily skin, uneven pigmentation, or a visible tattoo is an issue, try airbrush makeup. It gives a flawless look with virtually no transfer.
