  • B&B in Central Jersey

We had our wedding at the Fernbrook Bed and Breakfast in Chesterfield. It was stunning, averagely priced, and has the kind of unique character and outdoor setting we wanted. It's really hard to find a place that will do both ceremony and reception, and this place was great. They have a tented patio, and even though it briefly rained during the reception, it was really no problem. We went back there for a Mother's Day brunch this year, and it was just as I remember it with some small improvements. Worth looking into...

  • Alaire State Park or Deep Cut Gardens..

Ladies, have you thought about looking into Alaire State Park for your wedding ceremony? They have a cute little chapel for the wedding in a gorgeous park so there are so many beautful spots for your photographer to take photos. Same things with Deep Cut Gardens. They have a castle that you have have your wedding in!! I am a photographer in South Jersey and these are two of my favorite spots for weddings!

  • casual - outdoor weddings

I am having the same issues.. I am looking to have a more casual outdoor wedding, but somewhere pretty. All the places I have tried that have outdoor areas for ceremonies, but are more casual locations, such as restuarants, rather than huge catering facilities, are charging the same prices as if I went to a 5-Star catered event at a Grand Hotel.
I just cannot believe the prices. Even a lunch buffet costs almost as much as a full sit down dinner by the time they finish charging you the extra fees.

  • Outdoor Wedding

I am looking for a site for a wedding in Central NJ to host a wedding. I am looking for a state park or garden. Any Ideas? I am on a budget.

  • How do I find alternate spaces

these 3 brides refer to other places, how did you find other places? What resources did you use?

  • Same here

I looked at Crossed Keys and Chimney Hill. I loved CK but found them to be way too expensive and as said above, unwilling to compromise with guest counts. In this economy, and as DIY budget weddings are becoming the trend, I found it hard to believe that these venues were so uncompromising. I am having a lot of trouble trying to find an outdoor venue in NJ, they are few and far between, which I suspect is why the few that are out there are so expensive.

  • 150 guests

I agree-I am planning on getting married next year and I have come across that same problem. These places are pricey and are unwilling to come down on the guest requirement.

  • We don't have 150 guests

My fiance and I have recently started researching and looking at wedding venues. We have run into the hurdle of venues not accepting any party under 150 guests for Saturday evening in October 2010. We have received prices far beyond our budget for head count of 100-125 guests for those same rooms. We opted to have 85 guests to keep the reception intimate for loved ones, and of course to keep within our budget. My fiance is from New Jersey and I am from New York. Perhaps it was naive of us to think we'd be able to find something affordable and beautiful in NJ without NYC price tag.
