Amy Wilbur Weds Shaun O'Hara

When it comes to storybook meetings, few couples can top Amy Wilbur and Shaun O’Hara. After Shaun, starting center for the New York Giants, was injured during a game, he ended up in the hospital where he was cared for by Amy, a registered nurse from Glenmont, New York. The two immediately clicked. “I called my mom and said, ‘I just met the man I’m going to marry,’” recalls Amy. The feeling was mutual. “After spending time with Amy, I knew that everything I wanted to do in life I wanted to share with her,” says Shaun, who grew up in Hillsborough and graduated from Rutgers University.

After dating for four years, Amy and Shaun chose Cap Juluca, a luxe resort in Anguilla, for their March wedding. “I love the Caribbean, and I wanted our wedding to be a fun weekend for friends and family,” Amy says. She enlisted JoAnn Gregoli of Elegant Occasions to quarterback (pun intended!) the festivities, including a rehearsal dinner on the torch-lit beach. “It was magical,” says Gregoli.

The next day, Shaun’s dad officiated at the ceremony as Amy and Shaun exchanged vows atop a bluff just before sunset. “Seeing Amy in her wedding gown took my breath away,” Shaun says. After a surfside cocktail hour, guests enjoyed a sit-down dinner in Cap Juluca’s open-air restaurant where masses of candles, arrangements of hydrangea, roses and blue delphinium, ivory linens, silver candlesticks and chargers set an ultra-romantic mood. The newlyweds shared a memorable first dance to “All I Ever Needed” by Bret Michaels. “There’s a line that says, ‘We didn’t need fortune, didn’t need fame, just a little shelter from the rain,’” Amy says. “At that moment, a huge wave splashed and soaked us! The crew brought out mops and our guests grabbed them and started doing the limbo. It was hilarious!”

To thank everyone for being there, the couple showered their 64 guests (including a number of New York Giants) with a gift each day—from treat-packed canvas totes to bedtime deliveries of M&Ms. “Amy and Shaun are an amazing couple filled with love,” says Gregoli. “They wanted to have fun with their closest family and friends, and that’s exactly what the weekend was about.” Following a honeymoon in Italy, the couple now lives in Franklin Lakes.
