Limo

We just got married on Saturday June 21, 2008. We had booked a "limbusine" as a limo to transport the wedding party to the church and then to the reception venue which was 45 minutes away. The company name is "Fancy Limousine" in Howell, NJ. We knew we needed room for 30 people or more, so we decided the "limbusine" which holds 36 passengers would be ideal. However, the pictures they showed us of the the available limbusines all had unattractive graphics on them. We asked if they had any plain ones that were just white. They promised us they would have one for us, and even charged an additional fee for it. Fast forward to Saturday morning, and the limbusine that arrives had different colored brown stripes and graphics on the side. My now wife was not pleased. After all, this was a very classy wedding that was planned, everything was black and white and very elegant, hence why we wanted a completely plain white bus. To make matters worse, the company did not perform the customary, and contractually promised red carpet in front of the church back into the limo, along with champagne. My wife called the company this morning to discuss the issues, and the company merely said they "guessed they weren't able to get a white bus for that day", and that myself and my groomsman must have drank the champagne they had prior to arriving at the church, and that's why there was no red carpet/champagne. This is completely untrue, as I brought on 2 cases of beer, 2 bottles of champagne, a bottle of vodka, and ice for the ride from the church to the reception. And I specifically recall looking in all the coolers on the bus, and never saw any champagne. The company refuses to give any sort of a refund, and even worse, is accusing us for the problems as their excuse. Another case of a crappy company that requires all their money up front for a service, and doesn't provide a level of service that was paid for and promised. Once these companies have your money, they don't care about anything else.

He just went bankrupt and has a few criminal charges for theft by deception against him.

I'm getting married on Oct. 24th of 08. Can anybody recommend a florist they have used before in the Bergen County, Northern Jersey Area. I've been to a couple on my own and just didn't feel comfortable with them. I would really really appreciate some suggestions!

DO NOT USE ZOOM STUDIO (MARCIN WILCZEK) for your videographer!!! He basically cheated us out of our money. We were married last May, and he won't return our calls and we haven't received our wedding video. Our contract says 16 weeks from final payment or 6 months if special circumstances arise. Unfortunately, I'm not even sure if he's still in the country, but if he is, I'm taking him to court. I don't want anyone else to have to go through what I have with someone this unprofessional. Make sure whomever you choose has a solid history and get references! All our other vendors were awesome, but we weren't careful about picking the videographer and we got screwed.

Anyone heard of or having Milton Gil Photographers?

So many DJ's, Photographers, Videographers. Who do you choose??

I need major help here!!! We are getting married on a Thursday evening, July 3rd 2008 at the Valley Regency in Clifton, NJ. We are now looking at DJ's, Viedo/Photographers and are on a budget since we are paying for entire wedding on our own.:w00t:

Who can you suggest as a Video/Photographer in the northern NJ area that suggest both at a package rate of $5,000 - $6,000?? I have looked at photographers in Wayne that had their starting package (this remember is just for still photographer) rates starting at $4,200 and up!!! This is not including the videographer. Of course we want quality and want the best pictures/video that is out there. But who do you choose?

Also, we are looking at a company called Golden Note Entertainment as our DJ. Has anyone used them in the past? If so, did you like them?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I just posted about my negative experience with my photographer but wanted to also let all the brides-to-be know about the great services we had.

I fell in love at first sight with the Richfield Regency in Verona. The place is so elegant looking but does not have a ridiculously high price. Their service is absolutely exceptional. Raul the banquest manager made us feel comfortable and he was a pleasure to work with. We mainly worked with him but the other people there were just as professional and friendly. My husband & I found it amazing that we heard not 1 negative thing about them when we were planning our wedding. We met couples that got married there from 23 years ago until today. They have maintained a consistently great reputation. I would recommend to at least go look at the place. Wedding planning can be stessful. You will have no worries with them.

For our DJ services we used Tom at Elite Entertainment located in Eatontown. We saw them at a bridal show and were impressed at their energy. My husband liked Tom because he loved how he did the introductions of the bridal party at their showing. After meeting with him we liked Tom even more. He did have an easy job with us because our guests were out on the dance floor all night without any prompting but he mixed the music great and our guests raved about our DJ too.

If you don't want to get ripped off on flowers I would suggest our florist Mascola's in Newark. We got great prices and I still received tons of compliments on the flowers even from our photographer. They turned out beautifully.

The Richfield Regency recommended Dr. Michael Festa in West Orange to marry us and we were very pleased with him. His ceremony was a mix of serious and funny which the guests appreciate and we did too. He will go over the ceremony with you and you can omit or add what you want.

The dress shop I used is not up north because we live down by the shore but I loved them. I used Nicole's Boutique in Brick. The shop is set up well and the girls in there are helpful but not pushy when you are browsing for a dress. I found a gorgeous dress that got tons of compliments for $700. Everyone loved the corset tie in the back. The bridesmaid dresses we found there were also great. The girls loved them and would use them again. Their service was exceptional. We received the dresses on schedule or before schedule and my bridesmaid out-of-state got her dress with no problems.

Hope this information is helpful. I know that it can be overwhelming planning a wedding. We did it in 11 months and really lucked out for the most part on our services. We really didn't do much research. Happy Planning!

Photographer & Videographer Experiences

Has anyone else had a bad experience with JF Photography in Cranford, NJ? This was the only service I had problems with and was very upset since this is an important service. I am trying to figure out what to do. They were not totally professional and minimal communication was allowed with our photographer & no communication was allowed with our videographer. I had to go through the studio and did not receive calls back from them. Because of this lack of communication and professionalism there were problems with our photos and video. I am curious to find out if I am the only one that had problems with them.

What month is good for a wedding?

I was wondering if May would be a good month for a wedding. I thought about June, but then I found out that the 3 most popular months for weddings are June, August and September. I just dont feel like competeing for vendors and stuff with other brides. I know June has good weather. But so does May. I am open to opinions. Please help.

My Wedding isn't for over a year but I'm so excited I've already booked a Wedding planner! My biggest concern with my Wedding was budget since my future husband and I are paying for it on our own. I was hesitant to pay for a planner but so far I am 110% THRILLED. I must be annoying her everyday with questions and e-mails of things I love. So for those of you like me who aren't so sure about hiring one, DO IT! I think for those especially on a tight budget they are better! Within a few days of hiring her and giving her my budget, she had it all planned out with how much I should spend on what and gave me three different options. Celebration Studios (BEWARE!!!)

Hello. Congratulations to all of the brides that are beginning to plan their weddings. I have been married for almost six months, and would just like to give you some advice about choosing your photographer.
The main reason I joined now was to warn you about my photography company - Celebration Studios. They have offices in a few places in NJ (Clifton, Montclair for example). Go to celebrationstudios.com to see more if you'd like.
My wedding was in July of 2007, so I'm just hitting the 6 month mark. Booking them was no problem (of course). I booked out of the Clifton, NJ office. On my contract, I was told about 8 weeks for proofs and online viewing. Well, I got my proofs 13 weeks later, and it took an addditional 2 weeks for online viewing.

Then I had what I thought was my album design session on November 14, 2007. I was told that since they were changing their website, it would be another 2 weeks until my pictures were online with the new Pictage website (their affiliate). They also went into this spiel of how doing this will make it so much easier for brides to do their albums in the future, and it will be quicker to get everything done, with a turnaround time of no more than a few months. Well, that's fine and dandy, but how does that help me, as well as all of the other brides that are still fighting them NOW?? So at this point, they took my thank you card order, and surprisingly enought those were done within a few days. At this point I gave them a little credit, and thought maybe they really were just backed up for the summer months.

Well, that was a mistake. It is now January 3, almost 2 months since they told me my pictures would be online, and I still have nothing. They also told me they will not give me the CD with all the pictures until after everything is done, since they are "owned by the photographer" - whatever, that's total BS. And I also paid in full, so I'm out alot of money. I have left them SOOOO many phone messages since before Christmas, and I have only received one email back from them, saying I will be the first to know when my pictures are available on Pictage, and that they should be available January 1st. Well, it's after that date, and still I have nothing.

If you want more proof that I am telling you the truth, go to THEKNOT.COM and check out their message boards, there are a few links for Celebration Studios and it will show you all how serious this really is. There is a very good chance that if you book with them you will NEVER have your pictures. Also, go to the Better Business Bureau website (BBB.ORG) and type in Celebration Studios. They have had 43 complaints in the last 36 months!!!!!

Please do your research before you book a photographer, I am begging you. There are brides that have been married over a year and still don't have any of their albums. And if you know anyone else that would benefit from this information, please share it. I do not want to see anyone else go through the same sh*t that I, or anyone else is going through right now.

Hi again. This time my post is a good one, not a complaint ;).

If anyone is looking for a good DJ at reasonable prices, Rikki Starr is right for you. He did my wedding in July 2007 at the Atrium CC, and two of my friends weddings in August 2004 and October 2006. When we saw him in 2004 he was just so good and my husband and I said when we got married we were going to have him.

He's young, fun, and he really gets the crowd into the wedding. I mean, he'd do traditional if that's what you want, but he'll do basically anything you want him to. My husband and I had a variety of traditional, rock, and even sone country music in our wedding, and he did a wonderful job at mixing everything together. He also did our ceremony which was an outside ceremony at the Birchwood Manor, for a VERY reasonable price, considering he had to set up everything twice.

Just a thought for you girls out there. Let me know if there are any other questions :)
